 Installing the HEMS

1 Create an Account
o Download the HEMS app, by W Systems Design, from either the

Apple App Store or Google Play.

o Follow the prompts to create a free account.

o Check the WIFI signal at your electrical panel to ensure proper

performance of all devices.

2 Set up the area for the installation

o Turn off the main breaker to the electrical panel.

o Remove the cover from your electrical panel to expose all of the circuit

breakers.

o Locate the best position for the HEMS inside the panel and attach the unit

3 Install the HEMS

o Locate and remove the closest knock-out plug before placing

through, and fastening with adapter before plugging into the HEMS.

o Connect the two current censers to the HEMS before connecting

them to the 2 main service wires.

o Using an empty circuit breaker, install the power cable for the

HEMS.

4 Clean up and secure the electrical panel.

o After ensuring that all wires are connected properly, replace the electrical panel cover.

o Turn on the main breaker to the electrical panel.

 Finishing the Initial Account Setup

o Once the HEMS is successfully installed, return to the HEMS app on your smart device.
o To pair the HEMS with your W Systems Design account, simply select the device from the queue
for pairing.
o You will now be prompted to enter your home WIFI network’s name and password for the HEMS.
o Once paired, you will now be able to select the types of reports you would like your HEMS to
send you, as well as how frequency you would like to have them generated.
o Finally, select to opt-in or opt-out of the available local utility programs and incentives.

Troubleshooting
Home Energy Monitoring System is not showing up on my app.

- Make sure the HEMS has power:

On the HEMS’ antenna (outside of your electrical panel), check the easy-to-read indicator

light. If the light is not present, remove panel cover and check power adaptor is correctly

plugged into HEMS. If the indicator light is blinking red, the device is in pairing mode and

needs to be re-paired via the HEMS smart phone app.

- Make sure your phone can connect to the HEMS:

- Turn on your phone’s Bluetooth.
- Try power cycling the breaker that the HEMS is connected to.
- Try Restarting the HEMS smartphone app.
- Try Restarting your Smart Device.

The HEMS app is not receiving real-time data.

- Check to make sure the two sensors, attached to the two service mains, are plugged into
the HEMS device correctly.
