Introduction

Filipinos especially millennial are being attached by fashion and updated from

trends and “in” nowadays. Fashion represents every personality of an individual, it gives

style and confident to everyone. This is known as fashion, it is commonly found in

establishments like malls and boutiques that is why the researchers came up with a

researchers chose this location because it is placed where the citizens/target market who

is looking for fashion and style passes through public market and grocery stores.

This project attempts to improve and motivate people through their fashion style

especially in Dinalupihan. It helps the citizens to be more fashionable and presentable by

their looks. And it helps to boost everyone’s self-confidence and communicate with other

people well. This project shows the modernism from time to time.

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Local

Lim (2005) in his article at ABS-CBN News entitled “How Pinoy retail brands

are competing with Global brands” stated that a lot of local apparel brands have started to

defend their market, some have taken the opportunity to prepare to go on the offense and

look to expand into international markets. According to Euromonitor International

Report, through online retailing of clothes is getting to be popular, buyers still want to go

to stores and experience fashion for themselves. Department stores and boutiques are still

the destination if one wants clothes, sportswear and footwear.

However, the entry of International brands have challenged our local apparel

outlets to level up and because Filipino consumers love design and quality, which are

both present in global and local brands, they are willing to purchase both. And with the

growing consumer power and fashion-conscious outlook of the middle class, especially

the young professionals, apparel will always enjoy capturing a sizable chunk of the

market.

Cu (2016) claimed that the Asian retail market is seen to grow stronger in the

coming years. The PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report revealed the clothing and

footwear industry shares an annual growth rate of 9.5 percent in Asia, with driver’s

population and mid-level salary bracket growth – seen to push consumer expenditure in

the coming years. The integration of economies of the Asean is also expected to further

drive the growth in the fashion industry.

15
Cu added a statement of the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) saying that

“The good thing about franchise brands are leveling up to remain relevant. By the

continued raising of their global competitiveness, Philippine Franchises re not only able

to compete with foreign franchises, here but are also getting more confident in expanding

overseas”.

The researchers conclude that the two local literatures are informative, it helps the

researchers on what are the different factors and insights about establishing a

fashion/clothing boutique. It also gives some ideas and fact knowledge about the

relevance of fashion industry in the Philippines and also globally. By these literatures, the

researchers able to understand about building or establishing a business like fashion

boutique.

Foreign

Keller, Magnus, Hedrich, Nava and Tochtermann (2014) in their article entitled

“Succeeding in tomorrow’s global fashion market” stated that the dynamics of the

apparel industry are changing dramatically. To succeed amid the shifting tides,

companies need to build up competence in some disciplines. Few industries require

companies to stay as nimble and on their toes as the global apparel business. At a

baseline level, there is the fast-moving nature of fashion, which requires companies to

jump on trends right away, never taking the fast follower approach. That alone gives the

apparel business a unique set of challenges. Today, however, additional dynamics are

16
stirring the pot. Apparel consumers not only want to see a level of freshness in their

products, but also in the entire shopping experience.

In this article, the authors discussed the primary ways in which the world is

changing and how these shifts will have a significant impact on the way apparel brands

and retailers do business. Based on experts interviews, client studies and industry reports

identifies seven global trends that point the way toward sustainable value creation, these

are moving targets, sustainability, digitization, channel convergence, deluge of data,

urbanization and hybrid growth.

“Women’s Clothing Boutique Business Plan” (2018) stated that there are various

economic forces that affect apparel retailers consumer confidence is the most important,

people don’t shop when they are not feeling good. Unemployment also has an effect, in

that fewer women out in the workforce means less disposable income for high-end

quality clothing. Thus, large discounters are now working with top designer apparel to

the masses. Although they can’t compete on quality, their continued development of the

trend could have a direct impact on retailers whom sell designer clothing during tough

economic times. Based on focus groups, united marketing believes luxury consumers see

apparel and accessories as more of necessity than a luxury. This is a good news to

boutique retailers. There are over 800 clothing boutiques in the LA are; approximately 19

percent of these generate over 500 thousand dollars in sale. In fact, women’s clothing

stores in Los Angeles have 62% higher sales growth rather than the national average.

The researchers conclude that this two foreign literature are helpful and

informative, it helps the researchers to have knowledge on how to establish a

17
fashion/clothing boutique and how to make it progressive and successful. It also gives an

idea to the researchers to plan and create a new business venture, also this two foreign

literatures helps the researchers to understand the things about creating or building a

boutique.

Marketing Aspect

In marketing aspects, it determines who are the target market and the marketing

strategies that the researchers needed and the level of competitions. It also determines the

marketing expenses. The basis for the product pricing is also determined in this aspect.

40
Target Market

In business, target market is what we usually called costumers. Anyone who

wants fashion will be accommodated on the establishment and will be treated well.

Students, fashionistas and especially the citizens of Dinalupihan.

Level of Competition

An organization’s competencies should be focused on satisfying the costumer’s

needs or preferences in order to achieve above average returns. The researchers came up

with the business “Boutique de Moda” to create a new aura of a fashion boutique. The

business has products that has a good quality and satisfying designs. (The owner should

be more creative)

Marketing Strategies

As for marketing strategies, the target market is a process that allows an

organization to concentrate on the resources on the optional opportunities with the goals

of increasing sales and achieving sustainable competitive advantage. It is very important

for a business to encourage people to visit the establishment, it is also helps the business

41
to expand and become popular. Marketing strategies are vital to business success. The

strategies of the researchers will make a plan of give - away or souvenirs such as key

chains for first 100 costumers for the opening day of the business.

Boutique de Moda devised several ways in advertising and selling the products.

Of course the best way of advertising a product is by word of mouth. If the costumer is

very much satisfied with the services and products of this business, they will tell to their

friends and relatives about it. Thus creating a web of market that are eager to try the new

fashion boutique.

Before the opening of the store/establishment the advertisement will be through

fliers, tarpaulins, and online advertisement through social media where many people can

see all information about Boutique de Moda.
