But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such
things there is no law. Galatians 5a:22-23

“ For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at
all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we
do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.” Romans 8 : 24-25

Who does God

In our relationships with our family and friends, who does the bible tell us we

How are we to handle hope, affliction, and prayer?

yet have?
Being patient is often a very difficult task. Everyday we have an opportunity
to do good even when faced with adverse situations like a fight with our
friend or family member. God calls us to be faithful in prayer with all things
so that he can guide in the way we should go. We have hope in Jesus who
provides us with the promise of our chains being broken from the sin that
can so easily entangle us. It is with this hope that we can serve others, over-
come evil with good, and be patient in all situations that come our way.
Not too long ago, a family member, who was nine at the time, faced an uncertain
medical situation. I couldn’t understand why this was happening and turned to
the bible for answers. I came upon a chapter in the old testament that gave me
great comfort in knowing that sometimes we won’t understand why but to always
have faith in God’s plan and patience while we wait in our affliction.

From Vines Dictionary:

Patience is the quality that
does not surrender to circum-
stances or succumb under
trial, it is the opposite of de-
spondency and is with hope.

The story was about a man named Job. He was a very faithful servant of God and
he had blessed Job immensely. However, Satan wanted to tempt Job and God al-
lowed this to happen. Everything was suddenly stripped away from Job including
his family, shelter, and things he had come to rely on in his life. But through his
affliction, Job never lost sight of God like Satan was hoping would happen.

God ultimately restored Job and he will do the same for you. God never promised
that our life would be an easy street. He has promised you hope in Jesus our sav-
ior who we wait patiently for his return. Knowing our ultimate crown can allow
us the ability to be joyful in hope, patient in times of trouble, and faithful in
prayer is how God wants us to deal with things that happen in our lives. God
wants us to trust him in all things whether good or bad!
