Note:
THIS PROCESS MUST BE COMPLETED FOR ALL SECTIONS OF THE
PAPER, THESE SECTIONS WILL BE INSERTED BEFORE THE FINAL
PUBLICATION IS COMPLETED.
Step 1
Double Click the First file of the Section that you will be working with, this will
initiate Adobe Acrobat software.
Example:
FRI 01,96.pdf
Step 2
At the top of the Adobe Acrobat menu window you will see a menu item pipeX, this is
the Olive Software plugin that you will be working primarly with.
A file location window will open, navigate to the following file area and choose the
file XMD_JamaicaObserver_e.inf
c:\olive\batch\profile\XMD_JamaicaObserver_e.inf
Step 3
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\Combine Pages...
Note:
This will start an automated process that will (Based on File name), seek out and
assemble and complete document with all section pages.
Step 4
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\Split Pages...
Note:
This will run a automated process that will split the combined pdf pages into single
pages and place in order.
Step 5
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\Trim Pages...
Select every Odd Number (1,3,5,7...etc) by Holding down the “Ctrl” key and click on
the file name, after selecting all the ODD number pages click the button “Modify”
Tabloid size:
Left: 804 Top: 1060 Right: 1570 Bottom: 18
Broadsheet
Left: 49 Top: 1564 Right: 971 Bottom: 54
Select every EVEN number (2,4,6,8...etc) by Holding down the “Ctrl” key and click
on the file name, after selecting all the EVEN number names click the button
“Modify”
Tabloid size:
Left: 17 Top: 1060 Right: 783 Bottom: 18
Broadsheet
Left: 122 Top: 1564 Right: 1046 Bottom: 70
Now you are going to make sure that the trim selection on the pages that contain
crossover photosgraphs are right to the edge, this is done by manually altering the
trim lines.
Click on the page currently displayed, select the twin page icon located on the botton
right hand corner, go thru the page pairs and adjust trim lines accordinly.
Step 6
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\Join Double Pages...
Click on the page currently displayed, select the twin page icon located on the botton
right hand corner, go thru the page pairs, Join Pages by “Right Click” on the Mouse
and Selecting “Connect Double Pages” for any pages that carry a story that crosses
over to the adjoning pages or for images that spread across multiple pages.
When this is completed Go back to Menu 'Double Pages” and select buton
“MERGE”
Step 7
Recheck all pages of the document by Click on the page currently displayed, select
the twin page icon located on the botton right hand corner, go thru the page pairs
If a problems have occurred and the pages have a display issue make a note of the
page number, close the current document by clicking on the “X” mark on the top right
hand of the window. This gives you access to the previous document “before Joining
pages” go to pages where the problems had occurred.
On the tool bar choose the icon “=” located beside the Olive Button. “Right click” on
the page that had the display issue and choose option “Redistill”
Do this for all pages that had a display issue noted earlier.
Step 8
Save the file as described below in the c:\Olive\Bath\Working folder
XXX-yyyy-mm-dd
Step 9
In the Main File JMO-YYYY-MM-DD insert all suppliments at the end of the main
Publication.
Step 10
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\Predefine areas...
Outline Ad areas
Step 11
Under pipeX select option profile\Pre-Segmentation\OCR on Predefine Areas...
A automated job will be run, this will define the ad areas and outline the rest of the
pages (Headline, Photographs and Stories).
Step 12
Under pipeX select option pipeX\Segmentation\Run...
Step 13
Enter the ActivePaper Edit Mode, by selecting the ICON.
Step 14
Go thru entire publication and clean up as nessesary.
When this is completed go to next step
Step 15
Under pipeX select option pipeX\Segmentation\Validate....
An automated check is done on entire publication, a new windows will appear, Check
all the weblinks and email address on in this window.
Step 16
Now we have to lable te pages of the publication, the section listings, this is done by
clicking on the induvidual pages and in the Window labled “Segmentation Properties”
the filed “section: on te lower right side should corrispond to the Pages Label.
This is very important step, if this stage is missed their will be not Table of Contents
information.

Time to publish

Under pipeX select option profile\Publish\Publish...

Under pipeX select option profile\Publish\Output ot XML...

Afte this is completed navigate to the local repository
c:\olive\Repository
The JMO folder under the year folder you will find the folders that we will be
operating out of, the Months are seen as a two digital number
Go into the folder for the month that you have published into then copy the folder of
the new published document.
Go to the activepaper Repository located at: \\jamobsvr-oad\OAD-Repository
you can access this thru the Windows\Run command in the start menu
Step 21
Open the Activepaper Server Administrator website, a shortcut in on the desktop if not
the website address is:
http://jamobsvr-oad/director/default.asp?wm=Editor
Login using:
username: olive
Password: password-01
After you have login, navigate to the days publication, right click on the day and
select “TOC Publishing”
A new window titled “Publishin TOC Step1” will open, make sure the choices are as
follows:
Step 22
Right Click your mouse on the Day of Publication you just Published the Table of
Contents on, choose “open Indexing Agent”
A new screen will appear, in this screen towards the botton of the text you will see our
publicatio name JMO
Expand the JMO by clicking on the Plus Sign, Anvigate the the publication date, just
completed.
On the right hand side of the screen you should see your choices, click on button
“start Process”
Congratulation you have now published the Paper to the internal website, now we
need to publish the information to the web.
Step 1
We will now need to restrict the PDF files from being edited in the future.
Step 2
In Adobe acrobat you select the Menu Option: “Sign\Sign this Document....”
Step 3
Navigate to the Server Repository for the days publication, right click on the day's
folder.
This will create a single XX.zip file that you will need to upload to the Olive FTP site.
Step 4
Rename the newley created .zip this file as follows:
JMO-YYYY-MM-DD.zip
Step 5
You will see an icon named “Filezilla”
If not you can start this program thru the Start Menu\Programs\Filezilla
Click on the “Connect Icon” located in the top right hand corner
Double Click on “Olive Upload”
in the split screen area on the left side, navigate to the file you have saved on your
desktop (JMO-YYYY-MM-DD.zip)
This will start the upload process, I will recommend that you waiting approx 10
Minutes to make sure that the upload process is going ok.
