About The Reading Test Module

Reading Student Notebook

The Reading Module of the IELTS Test is of about 60 minutes.

The test is divided into three sections; the first section deals with retrieving
factual information; the second section deals with language in a training
context and the third section deals with extended prose with emphasis on
descriptive and instructive texts of general interest. A reading passage is given
with questions in each section. It includes approximately 40 questions. The
topics of the passages are of general interest and are taken from magazines,
journals, books and newspapers. At least one of the passages will present a
logical argument. As the test progresses the difficulty of the test increases. A
glossary of technical words may be provided.
The Reading test module is divided into two optional modules-the Academic
module (for students who are seeking admission in the college or University);
the second module is the General module (which is meant for students seeking
entry to a secondary school or to vocational training courses. Either of the one
need to be qualified to get the IELTS permit.
