advanced fabrication shop. They are specialized in CNC punched Precision Sheet metal Control
Panels, Switch Boards, Enclosures, Cabinets, Kiosk and General Sheet Metal Fabrication of
Internal Standards. They also have tie-up with advanced powder coating technology factory
situated close to the company.

They are successfully manufacturing and supplying of Control & Relay Panel Desk, Kiosk,
Electronic Cabinets and Sheet Metal components to various Govt. Departments and MNC

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

The production system is a part of business organization. It is one of the functions


directly associated with the production of goods and services. While manufacturing system is in
an umbrella term that covers all activities related to manufacturing and services. Production
system specially address information needs relate to acquiring and managing raw materials,
scheduling equipment and manpower planning, repair and maintenance and other activities
directly related to production. The production system has the following characteristics:

Production is an organized activity so every production system has an objective. The


system transforms the various inputs into useful outputs. Production system does not operate in

Punching:

 Punching in metalworking is the process of using a punch press to push a punch


through the material and into a die to create a hole in the work piece.
 Punching is often the cheapest method for creating holes in sheet metal in medium to
high production.
Bending:

 Bending (also known as flexure) characterizes the behavior of a


slender structural element subjected to an external load applied perpendicularly to an
longitudinal axis of the element
Shearing:

 Shearing is the process of removing the unwanted portions from a product in order to
get the required one.

Fabrication & Assembly:

 Fabrication, when used as an industrial term, applies to the building of machines,


structures and other equipment, by cutting, shaping and assembling components made
from raw materials.

PURCHASE DEPARTMENT

Purchase department is mainly to ensure continuity of supply of raw materials, sub-


contracted items and spare parts and at the same time reduce the ultimate cost of the finished
goods. Purchase department is having the control of stores. Purchased materials are to be stored
in stores/warehouses and issued for production as and when they are required.

In the stores, they are following the FIFO practice that is “the raw materials which
come first will for the manufacturing process. The important activities and work instructions of
purchase department is given below.

ACTIVITIES:

 Receive delivery Chelan for the incoming materials.

 Check for the purchase order whether it matches the DC

 Check the quality as per DC

 Quality check should be done wherever required

 After approval keep them at appropriate places

 Ensure FIFO practice is addressed to shelf line requirements

 In case of rejection keep the material in rejection area

 Inform the suppliers regarding the nature of defect & quantity with relevant commercial
details

 Ensure incoming materials are entered and forward the DC with supplier incoming copy
to accounts department after the product is accepted.

and existing product development is tied in closely with the needs and expectations of customers.

In this company the marketing department is handled by Mr. Senthil Raj Marketing
Head. Direct marketing is the marketing strategy used in the company. No special marketing
tactics are used here, they are producing products as per the orders only.

these products are made by fully automated machines and they are very accurate products.

Only the outside panels are manufactured with this company and the right side product is
the sample product of finished electronic circuits. These electric and electronic circuits are
circuited with some other company. ORION ELECTRIK CONTROLS PVT. LTD becomes the
supplier of those electronic switch board circuit companies.

This product is showed after the powder coating process. Based on the customers’ color
choice, the powder coating is done by the powder coating factory located near to the ORION
ELECTRIK CONTROLS PVT. LTD.

EKKATTUTHANGAL UNIT

Unit 1 is the Ekkattuthangal branch and in that branch the internal assembly of the
control panels are done by the skilled employees. Nearly 30 employees are working there for this
assembly and separate purchase department, stores department, accounts department is there in
that unit.

Only 10% to 20% of the finished panels are sent to this plant for the electric and
electronic circuit’s assembly. It is restricted for few customers who are giving more amounts to
do this work.

This is sample product in that unit after the internal assembly of electronic circuits. The
outer panel is sent by the unit 2 and then the circuits are connected and those electronic items are
bought from the some suppliers. In future they are having a chance to elaborate this unit and
make their own fully finished products.
