REVIEW: VERB TO- BE / SIMPLE PRESENT

In English we have 02 kinds of Verbs: (En el idioma Inglés tenemos 02 tipos de verbos)

1. Verb to Be: AM – IS – ARE


2. Simple Present: ( COMMON VERBS) Play, Listen, Read, Speak, Play, Cook,
Watch, Work, Read, Sit, Stand, Paint, Drink, Clean, Do, etc………

Examples with the Verb To – Be:

- I am 37 years old. I am Peruvian.


- My dad is in his office working all day.
- The students are at home because they can´t leave home.
- My dog is playing with a ball.
- She is in the bank since 8:oo o clock.
- My parents are at home resting all day.

Remember: (Recuerda)

1. AM : I
2. IS : HE – SHE – IT
3. ARE: WE – THEY- YOU

Examples with the Simple Present Tense:

 The Simple Present Tense is used for things, actions that we do every day. (El tiempo
presente simple es usado para cosas, acciones que hacemos todos los días)
 Use common verbs in Simple Present Tense for example: Like – Cook – Play – Listen
– Speak- Work- Study – Go – Eat – Drive, Play, etc…………………. (Usa verbos
communes en el tiempo Presente Simple por ejemplo……….)
 In English Language there are 02 kinds of verbs: Verb To – Be (Am – Is – Are) and
Common Verbs. (En el idioma ingles hay 02 tipos de verbos: El verbo To – Be (Am –
Is – Are) y los verbos comunes.
 There are 02 auxiliars Do – Does in Simple Present Tense. ) (Hay 02 auxiliares Do –
Does
 Do: (I – you – we – they) Does: (He – She – It)
 In Negative sentences use: Do not (Don´t) – Does not (Doesn´t). (En oraciones
negativas utiliza: Don´t – Doesn´t)
For example:

Affirmative Sentences: Subject/Pronoun + Verb + Complement

- I cook every day because we can´t leave home to eat out.


- People like watching films at home.
- My sister dances pop with her friends.
- My mom speaks English very well.
- He works in a hospital because is a doctor.
- You eat fruits and vegetables every day.
- The dog plays with a big ball.

Remember: Rules for He – She – It (Reglas para los pronombres He – She – It en


afirmativo)

1. For most of verbs add: “S” (A la mayoría de verbos añade “S”) He works, he plays,
she listens, the dog plays.

2. If the verb finishes in: CH, SH, O, S add “ES” (Si el verbo termina en CH, SH, O, S,
añade “ES”) She watches, He finishes, She goes.

3. If the verb finishes in “Y”, but before it there is a Consonant add: “IES” (Si el verbo
termina en “Y”, pero antes de la Y hay una consonate añade “IES”)

She study = She studies

Negative Sentences: Subject/Pronoun + Auxiliar + Verb + Complement

- I don´t cook every day.


- People don´t like watching films at home.
- My sister doesn´t dance pop with her friends.
- My mom doesn´t speak English very well.
- He doesn´t work in a hospital because is a doctor.
- You don’t´eat fruits and vegetables every day.
- The dog doesn´t play with a big ball.

Remember: Auxiliars: Do = I, You, We, they

Does = He, She, It

Interrogative Sentences: Auxiliar + Subject/Pronoun + Verb + Complement + ?

- Do I cook every day because we can´t leave home to eat out ?


- Do People like watching films at home ?
- Does my sister dance pop with her friends ?
- Does my mom speak English very well.?
- Does he work in a hospital because is a doctor ?
- Does you eat fruits and vegetables every day ?
- Does the dog play with a big ball ?
