Over the past few years I’ve had
a handful of moments that have
been forever seared into my
mind. Sitting, preparing for a
message on the Kingdom of God,
I had one such moment. You
know what they are like; a re-
sounding, “Ahhhh...I get it!” and
a new understanding enthrals
your mind. Almost like unwrap-
ping a gift, this new revelation
breeds excitement and some-
times even fear. What could this
possibly mean for what I’ve
always thought?
My big epiphany started in
Matthew. I had begun working
my way in reverse from ‘the
great commission’ —which I
always perceived to be the
primary mission of all those in
the dust of Jesus— and was hung
up very quickly in Chapter 24
and 25 of Matthew. The
context is; “get ready,
Jesus is coming back.”
He answers two of the
disciples questions, one
regarding the fall of
Jerusalem, and the other
regarding His return. In
answering the questions,
Jesus poses two parables,
one about ten Virgins waiting
for the advent of the bride-
groom where five of the maid-
ens were fools and did not pre-

pare and five were wise and
were ready for his coming. The
message was, “be prepared!” He
follows that parable up with an-
other story about a master trust-
ing servants with his riches.
Three servants received different
portions of the master’s trust,
then the master goes on a long
journey. Two of the servants
work diligently to put the mas-
ter’s trust to good work, both
doubling their portion. Mean-
while, one servant decides to
bury the trust. Upon the
master’s return, he finds two
“good and faithful” servants and
one “wicked and lazy” servant.
The latter of the two was
unprepared for the master’s
return.
In the greater context, prepared-
ness for the coming of
the King was key,
but Jesus follows
His line of think-
ing and gives us
the practical
means for pre-
paredness. It is
not the great com-
mission, as I previ-
ously had thought. I
mean, to take the mas-
ter’s trust and double
it, seems to me that
our commission to make

Shepherd’s Corner
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ Jesus
Launching into a new year, Rolland and your Elders had a very encouraging meet-
ing and wish to share the highlights with you that you may be encouraged and
informed. We thank everyone for your hard work leading up to the new year. We
all need to be very thankful for the things God has convicted us to act out in 2010
for Him.
It is important that our Congregation for many reasons have our Annual meeting.
It was felt that we should have the meeting as quickly as is possible. The tentative
date of January 30, 2011 was chosen and will be confirmed by announcement.
This meeting will allow MMCC to comply with governmental regulations for
charitable organizations and give us direction as we move into the new year.
Meeting Highlights...
- Rolland presented his lesson plan for 2011
- Rolland has asked the Elders to read the Church of Irresistible Influ-
ence
- We are considering having outside consultative help in defining our
goals and steps to get our spread out congregation working in the
most glorifying way possible. More info to come.
- We discussed and prayed for new seekers, those struggling, the
sick, those traveling and brothers and sisters we just haven't seen
very much of for a variety of reasons. We committed to visiting with
some of these people to find out how we might help them in their
walk.
- It was agreed that helping people before establishing a relationship
with them is very difficult, this is especially true for your elders.
times Please pray for us as we do all that we can to build relationships. It
was noted that the men of our congregation really need strengthen-
ing in this area.
- The Sycamore Series of Lessons has started on Thursday nights. The
hope is that these training sessions will become a tool to help our
members to share their faith with others. The main thrust is that
the Word is the Teacher and we are the illustration. It is felt that
this series is vital to our growth in the multiple small centers we live
in. If you haven't gotten involved please consider doing so.
- We discussed small groups and did not come to agreement on di-
rection or purpose but we did agree to make small groups a key
part of our upcoming planning for the year. We have agreed to have
a special series of meetings over a weekend to discuss and focus our
activities for the year and for those down the road.
If for any reason you would like the Elders to pray for you or others or if you
would like to get together with us, let us know.

Water for Uganda: This proposal seeks to raise support for water intervention
to benefit 3,924 registered compassion children (sponsored and unsponsored)
in 21 implementing church partner projects and 30,000 people within the sur-
rounding community. The total cost for this project is $346,729. Compassion
Canada’s portion is $218,323 of which almost $97,000 has been designated to
this project through donations. As you can see, funding is needed. If you are
able to help Compassion to raise the funds needed to benefit 30 000 people in
Uganda by providing them fresh water. Please visit www.compassion.ca or call
