The Museum with the largest collection of decorative arts in Medellín,
also cultural heritage and significant tourist attraction for lovers of culture, art and tradition. It’s gardens and rooms evoke a time dedicated to the cult of the arts; features works by Colombian masters and European artists, valuable furniture from the late XIX and early XX centuries, Baccarat glassware, tableware and porcelain from European manufactures, and numerous works by Colombian masters in ceramics, painting, sculpture, among other disciplines. History Inspired by the medieval castles of the Loira Valle in France, The Castle was the country house of José Tobón Uribe, doctor and founder of the Pasteur pharmacy, who commissioned its construction in 1930 to the first architectural office of Medellín, H. M. Rodríguez. In 1942, after the sudden death of José Tobón Uribe, the Castle was acquired by Mister Diego Echavarría Misas and his wife Benedikta Zur Nieden, who expanded the construction and decorated its spaces with valuable works of art, many acquired in his numerous trips, which constitute a collection of plastic and decorative arts, which are cultural heritage for Medellín and bring visitors closer to the splendor and beauty of the art and culture of the world. The Castle Museum is committed to contemporaneity and the avant- garde by promoting the arts together with popular traditions, through the rescue of trades in order to provide the community with a tourist reference with a varied program and a wide offer for training artistic, which is in charge of the School of Arts of the Museum. The permanent exhibition is divided into nine rooms: -Louis XV room -Music room -Colonial room -Entrance hall -Gallery of the Gobelins -Mister Diego's room -Isolde's room -Miss Rita’s room -Room of Memories. Also, artistic creations of masters of plastic and decorative arts are exhibited, which are exhibited in the Art Room, dedicated to temporary exhibitions. It also has a concert hall and an artistic training center where different cultural activities are carried out.
