Sum
Module 4 is designed to improve our English skills for entertainment. The skills can make us learn how to
narrate and deliver the story in correct sequence. This skill is very important and necessary for me as a teacher the
main duty of an English teacher is the ability of entertaining students by telling stories in an interesting way to create
an interactive teaching. In this module, I have learnt folktale, fable, biography, and historical recount which are both
spoken and written. The first material is Biography, here I saw some example of Biography both spoken and written.
This is the first time for me to teach Biography material in grade 12, I am very grateful because by following this PPG I
got a lot of things, from generic structures, language features, characteristics, social functions etc. Not only that, in
Kb 1, the steps to make a biographical text were also taught, and detailed, also presented a video task, which requires
me to really pay attention to the video being played to
come to answer questions that exist.

The second material is Historical Recount, this material is new for me, because previously I only knew
recount text only, and it was different from the recount text that I had studied. Historical recount is closely related to
the history of thing or object and place. This text is explaining about the chronological event occurred in the past. Its
involving the important dates, characters as well as the place of the event. The characteristics are written
scientifically or imaginatively and purposing to inform or entertaining the readers.
The third material is Fable, it is a story featuring animals, plants, or forces of nature. It is usually ends
with moral value which was intended as the lesson. The function of this text is to amuse the readers with a funny or
amusing story. The characteristics of fable are using animals or nature there is no human characters in this text, but
the main characters’ act, talk, laugh, walk just like human being.
The last material is Folktale or Legend, is a story or narrative that lies somewhere between myth and
historical fact and which, as a rule, is about a particular figure or person. The legend can relate to everyone and
connect us with other culture. The literature function of legend is to present the story of human action in such as a
way that they are perceived by the listeners or readers to be true. But in general it is to entertain or to amuse the
readers about the interesting story. The characteristics are, the main character is often a “heroic”, the main character
is “human”, usually there is some historical truth at the heart of every legend.

What I like the most about this module is that this material is presented in a very interesting way, not boring
because there are examples of videos that make it easy for me to capture the contents of the four materials above.
What I need to improve is learning: More about historical recount, because this material is really new to
Weakness: Because of limited time in studying the module, so I didn't have time to do the practice exercises in the
module, even though doing these exercises really helped in capturing and understanding the material
Strength: In this module, presented the characteristics that can help us differentiate between biographies, historical
recounts, fables and legends, and also shows an example using a very interesting video
Suggestions for learning this module: Suggestions for this module, so that there is additional time to learn to
understand, and if possible there are examples of how to apply the material in the lesson plan, because this will
be very useful for us in integrating it in learning. Relation to the use of TPACK, HOTS, etc.
