NOTE FOR INFORMATION OF THE BOARD

RE:TOUR REPORT OF MS. ILA CHAUHAN, AM & MRS VAIJAYANTI

VARADARAJAN, DY. MANAGER , REINSURANCE TREATY DEPTT.

The undersigned were nominated to attend the 16th African Reinsurance Forum
being organized by African Insurance Organisation from 2nd to 5th October, 2010
at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Casablanca, Morocco.

The topic of the conference was Solvency and Governance in Insurance and
Reinsurance Companies and Pension funds. The African Insurance Organisation
is an organization of African Insurance and Reinsurance companies and brokers.
While Oriental is not a member of AIO we are allowed to participate in AIO
events as Observer.

The conference provided a great opportunity to meet delegates from African

Insurance and Reinsurance Companies as well as brokers dealing in these
markets. The undersigned had meetings with African Reinsurance companies
like SCR Morrocco, Misr Insurance, Africa Re, Senegal re, Kenya Re, Zep Re ,
Tunis Re etc. who are participating in our Proportional and Non proportional
treaties. They were apprised of the performance of our treaties and the efforts
being made to improve the results of the treaty and company. They were also
informed of Orientals capacity to write Foreign Inward business- both treaty as
well as facultative. A write up containing Orientals Inward Acceptance
Guidelines, capacity and other relevant information was given to the Insurers/
reinsurers.

Meeting were also held with some Insurance/ Reinsurance Companies with
whom Oriental has not had any dealings so far such as ARO,Madagascar, Arab
Misr insurance Group, Tan Re, East Africa RE, Veni Re, Ghana Re etc.
Discussion on possibility of our participation on their treaties and vice versa as
well as facultative references were held with these companies.
Apart from the Insurance and Reisnurance Companies meetings were also held
not only with brokers like Afro Asian and Fremir Reinsurance services with
whom we are already dealing but also brokers like African Reinsurance Brokers,
General reinsurance Services who operate in African and Gulf markets as well as
brokers like Compre and Global Re who specialize in Commutation

The meetings provided the undersigned with an insight regarding the African
insurance market. The operation of the market is not similar to the Indian market.
The African insurance companies are not very big in size but are proving to be
quite profitable. The business from such companies could prove beneficial to the
company. However, some relaxations may be required in the way inward
business is accepted by the company. Also, JB Boda are one of the main brokers
who have been operating in the African continent for more than 30 years and
have a very good stronghold in that area, it is important that the development of
this business should be considered in consultation with them. Many of the
insurers have agreed to send the company their facultative offers and treaties
through M/s J B Boda.

Submitted for information.
