Topic Optics - Light Waves

The learners will be able to:

A. Understand the characteristics of light
I. Objectives:
B. Identify the properties of light as a particle and a wave
C. Students will develop their sense of

II. Preparation
* Prayer * Greetings
A. Routines * Attendance * Netiquettes
* Reminders for Materials:
Have the students watch a short video clip about light from TV series titled: Young Sheldon. The teachers will ask the
following questions:
B. Pre-Assessment 1. What is the hot topic being debated by Pastor Jeff and Sheldon?
2. What are the two sides on which light came from?
III. Lesson Presentation
 Introduction to optics
 Definition of light
A. Concept Presentation
 Properties of light
 Light as part of the Wave-Particle Duality
Identify whether the following statements describes light as a form of wave or particle and explain why.
1. Light consist of massless pockets of energy called photons
B. Developmental Activity
2. Light undergoes reflection, refraction, and diffraction.
3. Light travels fastest in gas and slowest on solids
Explain different phenomenon involving light such as:
1. Sunset
IV. Contextualization
2. Blue Sky
3. Rainbow
Sometimes, people get so lost in life that they find it hard to get their lives together just like a sailor who is lost in the
middle of night at the sea. But sailors had hopes of finding their way with the help of a lighthouse which shines the

sailor’s way. We too, can be like beacons of light that can move people out of total darkness and help them find their
way and get their lives back again.
VI. Generalization The students will do the summarization to see how far the students understood the topic.
Read and study pages 113-115 of your Science Link Book (REX). Identify the two (2) properties of light and give at least
