Introduction
The process of exchanging information orally, written even by signs, can make several
wrongs and may be the disagreement of the conjugation of the verb in conjugated tense. In
this present work, pertaining to the discipline of English we are will talking about present
continuous tense.

General objective
 Illustrate when we can use present continuous tense

Specific objectives
 Illustrate the various ways we can use present continuous tense
 Talk about the process of sentence formation at the same time grammar

Form
We form the present continuous with Subject + Verb to be + verb-ing
Affirmative form Negative form Interrogative form
I am working I am not working Am I working?
You are working You are not working Are you working
He is working He is not working Is he working?
She is working She is not working Is she working?
It is working It is not working Is it working?
We are working We are not working Are we working?
They are working They are not working Are they working?

Uses of present continuous


We use the present continuous:
To talk about things that are happening now, now we speak.
Example:
 What are you doing?
 I am writing an e-mail.
 We are leaving now. Goodbye.
 The bus is coming.
To talk about things that are happening now, but not exactly at the moment we speak.
Example:
 My brother is looking for a job at the moment.
 You are spending a lot of money these days.
 To talk about something we have already arranged or planned to do in the future.
We often give the future time (tomorow, in July, on Saturday, this afternoon, next week,
etc…)
Example:
 What are you doing on Saturday morning?
 I am meeting a friend.
 We are visiting our grandparents next weekend.
 My sister is starting a new job next Monday.

Important
Some verbs are not used in the present continuous. They are normally used in the simple
forms. Some of the most important ones are:
 I am liking tennis → I like tennis.
 Are you knowing Maria? →Do you know Maria?.
Spelling Rules
With most verbs we add -ing.
 go →going
 play → playing
 work → working
If the verb ends in consonant + -e we delete the -e and add -ing.
 Come →coming live →living
 Move →moving have → having
*Exception: be →being
If the verb ends in -ie, we change -ie to -ying.
 Die → dying
 Lie → lying
If the verb ends in one vowel + one consonant ,we double the consonant.
 Get → getting
 Run → running
 Shop → shopping
 Sit → sitting
 Put → puttin
When the verb ends in one vowel + -y, -w or -x ,we just add -ing.
 Play → playing
 Snow → snowing
 Mix → mixing
When the last syllable verb is not stressed.
 Listen /´Lisen/ → listening
 Visit /´Visit/ → visiting
*Exception: travel /´Travel/ → travelling

Conclusion
After the proper realization of the work, the final consideration remarked here regarding the
theme of work that is present continuous tense, of appealing to the public that we can look at
the way we use the various grammatical times, seeking to bring better language performance.
And it should be noted that the work objectives were successfully achieved.
