Ava is crocheted in continuous rounds. Do not join or turn unless otherwise indicated. Fill the parts with the
stuffing properly so your Ava also keeps its shape for a long time. If you can see the stuffing through the
stitches, use a crochet needle (0.5-1) smaller then the recommended, so it will look better.
Puff stitch: Yarn over, insert the hook into the next stitch, yarn over, draw up a loop. Repeat the preceding
step three more times at the same stitch (total 4 times). Yarn over and pull through all the loops on the
hook. Make 1 sc to close it and start the next puff stitch.
Material: Abbreviations:
Schachenmayr Catania in light grey, light blue, MR = Magic ring
pink and light yellow
sc = single crochet
Dark grey yarn for the eyebrows
hdc = half double crochet
Crochet hook 2,5mm + 3mm
dc = double crochet

Second leg:
Make the second leg just like the first leg, but add 2 sc after 12th rnd. Finish off, cut yarn, weave in ends. Change to
pink yarn, and make 6 chains.
Body:
Now connect the two legs with a sc, right next to the last stitch of the first leg. Both feet must point inwards, so they
look at each other (see photo).
Crochet another 23 sc around the first leg + 6 sc in the chain string + 24 sc around the second leg + 6 sc in the chain
string = 60sc. Mark the beginning of the round.

Finish off, leave a long yarn tail for sewing.
Ears: 2x in light grey, 2x in pink, 3mm hook. Nota bene: with pink yarn finish off, cut yarn, weave in ends. With light
grey yarn do not finish off, you will continue crocheting with grey yarn!

Place one pink and one grey pieces with wrong sides together. Insert the hook in both pieces and work the join round.
Crochet 36 hdc around. Fold the ears at the bottom, pink should be inside and grey outside, and make several stitches
to secure it. Fasten off and leave a long yarn tail for sewing that piece later.
Arms: in light grey. Make 2 of it! ☺

Fill only the lower 1/3 part with stuffing!

the two decreases from row 8 point to the front.

Dress / Ruffles:
I show two different variants of how to make the dress, skirt, frills. First, by the body at the desired height crochet only
in the back loops, and thus the front loops remain free to use them later. Second, working between the stitches.
Now take pink yarn and insert into the front loop from rnd 3 of the body.
1. Rnd: sc around, sl st in first stitch (60)

2. Rnd: (skip 1 stitch, 6 dc in next stitch, skip 1 stitch, sl st) (15 shells) Finish off, weave in ends.
For the next frill use light blue yarn and work between the stitches. Hold Ava upside down, feet pointing upwards.
Keep two rounds distance from the rnd where you worked the ruffles.

4. Rnd: (skip 1 stitch, 6 dc in next stitch, skip 1 stitch, sl st) (15 shells) Finish off, weave in ends.
For the 3rd rnd of ruffles use pink yarn again, keep two rounds distance to the light blue round. Here are only 58
stitches, so you will make one shell less, only 14. Leave two stitches out of the work after the last shell and close the
round with a sl st. Finish off, weave in ends.

Vest: light blue

1. Rnd: 41 ch (41)
2. Rnd: 1 sc in the 2nd stitch from hook, 39 sc, 1 ch, turn (40)
3. Rnd: 5 sc, 7 ch, skip 7 sc, 16 sc, 7 ch, skip 7 sc, 5sc, 1 ch, turn (40)
4. Rnd: 5 sc, 7 sc in die ch-space, 16 sc, 7 sc in the ch-space, 5 sc, 2 ch, turn (40)
5. Rnd: puff in 2nd stitch, 2 ch, skip 1 stitch, (puff, 2 ch, skip one stitch) x 19, 1 dc, 2 ch (20 puff stitches)
6.-9. Rnd: Continue the next rnds just like this. Make sure that you crochet the puffs in the next round in the two
chains of the previous round. See image!

For the tie strings crochet two strings by making 35 chains. Sew them to the upper corners.
Crown: light yellow

1. Rnd: 36 ch, without twisting join with sl st to the first stitch to form a ring (36)
2. Rnd: 36 sc around, 1 ch (36)
3. Rnd: skip 2 stitches, (1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1hdc) in the 3rd stitch, skip 2 stitches, 1 sl st, skip 2 stitches (6 shells)
Finish off, leave a long yarn tail for sewing!
Finishing:
*Sew the Head on the body. Make sure that the face is centered.
* Close the arms to the body, just below the neck seam. Make sure that the decreases from Rnd 8 are pointing
forward!
* Place the crown sideways on the head and sew it tightly.
* Sew the ears firmly on the head, below the 16th rnd. Make sure that your ears are not only sewn at the seam, but
also a little bit downwards, otherwise they are hanging off comically to the side.
* Sew the trunk onto the head firmly, below the 19th rnd.
* Stick the eyebrows.
