1. Here are the pictures of Naschielle and Kenn. Each one is a bundle of possibilities.
Describe what they were before birth (their point of origin) and who they will possibly
be after birth unto adulthood. What will they possibly become? Expound on your
answers.

Answer:

In my belief, we can’t really tell how a child will grow onto in the future without assessments
and careful monitoring. But, we could always assume and expect what they can become. If
you are eager enough, you can set variables which can lead them to the future you desire for
them. Though, it might be impossible. The stages might be the same but they gain different
developments based on their environment. Different stimulus teaches them many things
together on how they take in these teachings will determine who they are and what will they
become.

According to what I understood, if the pictures were the basis. At child stage, the boy would
be probably be eager to eat delicious food and would discern its taste. If it stays like this,
maybe he’ll imagine cooking food of his own and indulge in the world of culinary art. So, he’ll
probably choose to go to culinary school in adolescence. I would think that the child will
probably become a chef or any career in the food industry as an adult, given the fact that
he’s eating a corn cob. As for the girl on the right, she will probably explore athleticism. Very
active, playful and competitive at child stage, if she plays with water like in the picture, she’d
be indulging in the world of swimming, At adolescence, she will probably participate in sports
activities centered on water. Become an athlete someday, preferably, a swimmer.
Think ahead!

1. When you gave your own predictions as to kind of child, adolescent and adult
Naschielle and Kenn may become and hypothesized on who they once were, you
were referring to human development. What then is development?

For me, Development is the changes that occur to an individual undergoing different
processes that takes place internally and externally in his/her life cycle as a form of growth.

2. Will there be anything common in the pattern of development of Naschielle and

Kenn? If yes, what?

In terms of pattern, I think before and after birth will be common. Before birth, they always
go in the same process, same stages. Applies the same was as after birth or postnatal
development, as it will always be similar. Plus, if they were given the same environment,
they’ll most likely have many things in common.

3. Will there be differences in their development, e.g. pace or rate of development?

What and why?

For me, it will be on how these samples are taken care of and their environment. It might
differ in many instances depending on how the mother take care of herself during
pregnancy, like her health, history and status. Another thing, based on their environment,
different stimulus teaches them many things and on how they take in these teachings will
determine who they are and what will they become. Thus, affecting development.

4. Do you believe that Naschielle and Kenn will continue to develop even in adulthood?
Or will they stop developing in adulthood?

For me, development does not really end. Of course, we can say most of the developing
stages are finished or put to an end upon reaching adulthood. But, in my sense, as we are
dealt with predicaments, myriad of factors in the environment, and endless cycle of
learning. Development doesn’t end as we continue to change until the end. Therefore,
this babies will continue to develop even in adulthood
See if you can do this!

1. “Growth is an evidence of life.”

a. What does this mean?

Growth as coupled with development, takes in changes to call life, developing internally
and externally affecting our aspects of life which includes physical, mental, social, spiritual,
and emotional changes. “To live is to suffer” as they say, it means that as we undergo
predicaments in one life cycle, it teaches us many things, give us different experiences
that we take in which will influence on how we grow and molding us into someone
determined by how we deal with it. It applies to the same as well with plants and animals.

Life is shown in this order, this is its evidence. Take in a sculpture for example, though it
changes due to weather which may crack or discolor through time but it stays the same
as how it is sculpted, it is lifeless as it doesn’t grow and change. This is what it means
“Growth is an evidence of life”.

2. Define development in your own words. Translate the meaning of development in Filipino and
in your dialect.

Tausug(not fluent): Amu kunuh ini in pagyanun nil ana pag pinda sin kabuhi sin tao, ha
lawum atawa ha guwa sin baran nila.

3. State the 5 major principles of human development from a life-span perspective. Give at least
one application of each principle in the teaching-learning process.

Development is lifelong; Development is multidimensional; Development is plastic; Development is

contextual; And, Development involves growth, maintenance, and regulation. As a whole, these principles
are somewhat in line as the process itself since teaching-learning is regarded as part of development itself.

First, as after we graduate, learning doesn’t stop in school, it goes throughout our lives where ever we go;
Second, as we undergo education, we are dealt with many subjects that tackles every aspect in our lives,
you do not just learn academically but you are dealt with skill and vocational training as well; Third, learning
never stops even if you’re not in school as long as we are dealing with life, education never stops until we
take our last final breath; Forth, teaching-learning process is meant to improve an individual relevant
to the needs of society, equipping us with knowledge that we can use to make solutions to
problems; Fifth, the reason for the process to exist is for our betterment, it adapts to our needs as
we need it to, if we want to learn about history we choose to head for teachers in history, if we
care for health we go to a physiologist teacher and the list goes on.
4. Interpret the following quotations in relation to human development:
a. “Every man is in certain respects like all other men, like some other men, no other man.”
(Murray, H.A. & C. Kluckhohn)

In my belief, man develops the same way as others but grows uniquely to their own ways.

The first half “certain respects like all other men” means that we are all equal, we are of the same flesh, same
organics since we undergo through development in the same stages and processes. But grows differently as
determined by the variables and stimulus present in their environment together with how they perceive these
things as depicted by the other half “like some other men, no other man”.

The way our mothers took care of us inside her womb, is the same as all other mothers during their
pregnancy but differs on how she takes care of herself during the process. If two mothers, the first one
healthily cares for herself and other one doesn’t, the latter will suffer detrimental consequences involving her
baby. Another thing is, if a pair of twins are subjected in different environments, even if they look the same
and grew the same way, they still develop differently. For example, one is showered with love and the other
is with hate. It will lead to result where the other one sees the world as a benevolent place while the other
one thinks of it as an enemy or dystopia.

b. “Man is an unfinished project. He is always in the process of becoming.”

In my belief, all of us are not perfect because no one is born equipped with intelligence and skills right out of
the box. Though, others may say that there are some instances showing such existence but we can only say
that they just catch up and grasp knowledge quickly than others but not as if they already have it before
birth.

Everything must be honed; we have to read and study with books in order to be intelligent; the need to
undergo a lot of training and experience to become skill full; And have to deal with problems to
acknowledge competency. If you think you are already enough and had obtained these things already,
you should think again. As the dynamics of life always gives us different things to remind us of how insufficient
we are. With this, we go through the same cycle again in a loop to reach end we desire.

5. In the light of researches on human development, which of the two approaches is closer to
truth traditional or life-span? Why?

Basing from what I understand, life-span is much closer. Because of the fact that
development stays until death, as I do not agree with traditional which thinks that
it gradually disappears in adulthood. In truth, changes never stops as life never
runs out of it.
