CT

Pistol Round:
Most professional teams play it by spawn and have a basic setup. The strategy I’ve always used is a defensive long, 1
agro short, 2 middle, 1 b defensive. The main goal for the CT is to get the players low by using grenades and slow
down rushes with flashes. (The basic buy is Defuse Kit + Nade + Flash)

Long Player – Picks and counts players as they enter ct side of long. Makes a quick call and players rotate by how
many the player calls. The long player is determined by the spawn, closest long will take this position. (This player is
required to boost the short player up to short for the quick agro pick)

Short Player – 2nd closest to A and must be extremely fast with the boosting if they are to make the strat work. (this
player must buy NADE + SMOKE + FLASH) Once up onto short stairs he will flash it then smoke lower dark then
push up catwalk n spot the players rushing short/middle if seen grenades and falls back to stairs waiting for a rush.
(makes a fast call counting the players)

B Player – Closest to B. This player uses the basic buy. This player picks b from the window. He will run in pre flash
b then fall back to window and hold. This players main goal is to get a early call for the quick rotate to retake B. MUST
GET THE NADE INTO THE BACK MID OF B BOX TO LOWER PLAYERS.

2 Middle players – The two middle spawned players will hold mid. 1 will spot cat walk n try get binks n get the early
pick for the short player. The other player with stand close to the doors trying to pick the guy picking middle. (Glock
vs USP = USP Winner.) This player is the rotater so if a call is made he is first there to backup and will get the nade
into them. The other player who is spotting cat walk needs to be sharp n precise so I recommend the sharpest aimer to
take this position.

Retakes -

Retaking Long –
The player holding long MUST count the players n try spot the bomb to make the rotate work well… you don’t want
them to goblin plant B. It is so easy to kill them while crossing long. You just need to all stand in CT Spawn strafing n
binking n just nade into the site easy kills. You must remember it may be a split so the short player needs to always be
watching short so he isnt “gayed.”

Retaking B –
The close middle player will firstly go until 5 players are spotted or the bomb is then all players will gren into site then
all flash over and force the retake, first player checking gay spot (left of B) 2nd going for behind middle b box and the
other 3 going random positions. (Don’t retake from dark)

Retaking short –
You cant do much in this situation but have the long player still hold long and the guy in middle try bink them all and
the player holding short nade and try spam them with the usp. The middle close player can easily push up middle and
anal them while the other players flash/nade them from ct spawn.

This is a pretty advanced strat that will need to be dry ran, but once its known and everyone knows how to retake you
will find your self winning those pistol rounds you were losing previously. As most of you know the pistol strat is a
must win for any competitions as it can lead to winning the next 2 rounds

This strategy guide is based on my own personal oppinions and strategies
(which
seems to work pretty well.) In this guide, I will cover team strategy used
on the map, de_dust2. Strategy that you would use in a 5 vs 5 match. If
you're looking for basic strategy you could use for a public server, you may
not find what you're looking for in this guide. If there is something you'd
like added to this guide, feel free to contact me and I'll look into it.

In oder to fully understand this strategy guide, you may require a general
idea
of the map layout.

Like any de_map, 90% of the time as a CT on de_dust2 you will find yourself
camping, guarding and defending. As a CT, there are three basic strategies
of which your team will chose one of each round. The first is sending three
men to bomb site B and two to A, for the second you send two men to B and
three
to A, and for the third strategy you spread it out and cover zones. One man
goes to B, one man covers center doors, one man goes to long A, one man stays
at A, and one man covers short A. Chosing which strategy to initiate each
round depends on the opposing team's strategies. If strategy #3 hasn't been
working well for you, try #1 or #2 and chose which of those depending on which
bomb site you think the terrorists will attack.
Also, who goes to which position is decided by spawn location. At the start
of each round, you will observe which position you are nearest and let your
team know that you're going to position <blank>. That way there is no
confusion and you don't end up with empty positions and too many men in one
position.
Lastly, as a CT it is very very important that you let your team know the
second you spot a terrorist, especialy on dust2. Speed is the key. You also
need to hold off the enemy from reaching the bomb site long enough for your
team mates to reach you. Many players like to go rambo style and try to take
on the whole terrorist team solo. It is a much better idea to lay cover fire,
nades, and flashes just to keep the enemies back long enough for backup to
arrive.

Strategy #1 - 3 man B, 2 man A

First we'll cover the three men going to bomb site B. Speed is esential here,
because two of the three men will be rushing into the choke point. The third
man will stay behind at the doors to bomb site B that way he can watch the
center but also watch the bomb site incase the other two men are killed. If
you disover that the terrorists are not coming to bomb site B, of the two CT's
rushing the choke point, one will go down the stairs and the other can either
go back out through B or go down the stairs also. The idea in the long run of
this is that the terrorists are probably rushing site A and by this time they
are there or nearly there. You will want one of the two CT's who rushed B
choke point to flank short A and depending on urgency of the situation at bomb
site A, the other man can either flank long A or short A. The third CT at
bomb site B, the one positioned at the doors will make his way to bomb site A
through CT spawn. It is important that this CT waits to coordinate his attack
with the CT flanking short A because the CT coming through spawn is at a
positional dissadvantage. But in essence, he can use the CT coming from short
A to bait and he can then rush in and make the kills.
Lastly is the two men at bomb site A. These guys pretty much have it easy.
Both men will stay at bomb site A but one will position himself so he can see
down long A, and the other so he can see short A. If it's decided that the
terrorists are not coming to A, the two CT's there can make their way to B.
It would be ideal that one CT goes through center and up the stairs to flank B
while the other goes straight into B through the doors. Or depending on
urgency, both CT's may just go straight to B through the doors.

Strategy #2 - 2 man B, 3 man A

This is the strategy you'll use if you think the terrorists will be coming to
bomb site A. As the title says, 2 men will be going to bomb site B while the
other three will go to A. First I'll cover the three at bomb site A. Now,
there are actualy two variants to this. One is that two CT's rush short A,
and
the other is that two CT's rush long A. In both variants, the third CT at A
just sits at the bomb site as back up. If you decide to rush short A, your
next movement depends on if the terrorists are coming long A or are rushing
bomb site B. If they're coming long A, you'll want one of the two CT's
rushing
short A to flank long A while the second moves back to bomb site A. If
they're
attacking bomb site B, both CT's rushing short A will continue through short A
and up the stairs through the choke point into bomb site B while the third CT
sitting at bomb site A will travel through the center and to the doors into B.
Now, for the second variant of this, two CT's will be rushing long A. If it
ends up that the terrorists are attacking short A, one of these two CT's will
flank short A while the other returns the way he came back to A. If the T's
are attacking bomb site B, both of these CT's will need to quickly rush
through
long A and down the center towards B while the CT sitting at A will go through
CT spawn toward B.
Lastly, the two CT's assigned to bomb site B will mainly just be sitting
there.
One will want to position himself inside B so he can see into the choke point
while the other will want to be just outside of the doors so he can also watch
the center. If the terrorists end up attacking bomb site A, these two CT's
will need to quickly make their way there. One should flank short A while the
other goes through CT spawn.

Strategy #3 - Defending Zones

The third strategy is the most basic and probably the easiest to execute. In
this strategy, each CT will be covering a zone. There is no attacking, no
rushing through to meet the terrorists head on. This is the defensive
strategy.
The five positions are bomb site B (or just outside the doors to B,) the
center, long A, short A, and at bomb site A. There isn't much explaining
required of this strategy, but there are some small pointers I can add in.
First of all, speed is very important in this strategy due to your team being
so spread out. So calling off enemy sitings emedietly is very important as is
holding the enemy at bay. Flanking is very easy in this strategy, also. The
center man is almost always going to be the flank man. The only time he won't
be is when the terrorists rush center. But if the terrorists rush A, he will
flank up the center through long or short depending on which way the
terrorists
went and depending on urgency of the situation. If the terrorists rushed B,
he
will flank through the center and up the stairs to B.

*

Like any de map, terrorist strategy is very basic and very easy. There are
little specifics on most de maps but for dust 2, things can get complicated.
There are five main paths for the terrorists to attack. I call them direct B
(going left from terrorist spawn,) stairs B (going down the center and up the
stairs to bomb site B,) center (rushing straight down the center through the
doors to either site A or B,) short A (also known as top A,) and long A.
Your team will make the decision at the start of each round which way to rush.
Which way to attack will depend on what strategies the CT's have been
executing
and where you think their defenses will be the weakest.
Lastly I'd like to point out that it is my oppinion that winning as terrorists
on a de map relies heavily on skill level and not so much on execution of
strategy. The reason I think this is because in most cases you will be
rushing
as a terrorist right into the CT defenses, an ambush or a trap. Your skill
and
your aim will be put to the test.

*
In this section I'm going to cover some of the combination attacks and
strategies. I'm not going to cover much detail because most terrorist
strategy
is decided on the fly and at the moment depending on situation.

Attacking Bomb Site B -

All 5 rush direct B or 2 rush direct B and 3 rush center and through doors to
B.
Sending three men through center can be a good strategy if the CT's are
heavily
fortifying bomb site B. The three men rushing center can flank bomb site B
through the doors. In this strategy you will want to try to coordinate your
attacks so both groups attack at precisely the same time. A two front attack
so to speak.
If you chose to send all 5 men direct B you will rely on speed and force.

Attacking Bomb Site A -

All 5 rush short A, 2 rush short A and 3 rush center, 3 rush short A and 2
rush
center, 2 rush short A and 3 rush long A, 3 rush short A and 2 rush long A, or
a
completly spread out attack, 2 rush center, 1 rush short A and 2 rush long A.
In most cases, you will send all 5 through short A or you will use a
combination
sending 2 or 3 to short A and 2 or 3 to long A respectively. You will rarely
send men through the center because it is very risky. These men can easily be
flanked by CT's coming from bomb site B. Just as in the case of sending all 5
men direct B, you will again be relying on speed and force if you chose to
send all 5 men through short A. If you chose to use a combination attack,
coordinating your attacks will be key to success.
You may ask why I left out sending all 5 men long A. Well the answer to this
question is I think that is one of the stupidest things the terrorist team can
do next to sending the whole team through the center. By sending the whole
team through long A you are giving the CT's more then all the time in the
world
to focus defenses at A. A CT camping at bomb site B could go grab a burger,
come back, and still reach bomb site A before the terrorists do.

Miscellaneous -
Deciding which way to attack is always chosen on the fly, but for the first
round I always chose to send all 5 men through short A. I don't know why, I
just feel it's the easiest for pistol round. But for the first round, all 5
men should buy a grenade and ammo; nothing more. When you rush, the first 2
terrorists should throw their grenades into short A at the stairs and then
the remaining 3 terrorists should save their's for bomb site A or when you
site a CT. The initial two grenades thrown into short A will kill or come
close to killing any CT in there and will just about ensure your safe travel
atleast up until you reach bomb site A.

An important part of being a terrorist is defending the bomb. Planting the

bomb is half the battle, defending it is the hard part. There isn't much to
say about defending the bomb but it is important that you stay near it once
it's planted. There are two strategies you can use one you've planted the
bomb. One is to openly defend it and keep the CT's away (or dead for the
matter.) Just pick a nice spot and camp, really. The other, which you'll most
commonly use if you are the last terrorist alive is to hide and wait for the
CT's to come to you and try to defuse. It is then that you surprise them but
make sure to kill any CT defusing before targeting others. It doesn't matter
if you're killed, just so long as the bomb explodes you will still win the
round.

Basic Dust2 Tactics forCounter-StrikeSource

De_dust2 is the most publicly played map inCounter-strike:Source. This is largely due to the fact that each team

seems to have equal opportunity and the map seems to be balanced fairly well. In league play however, it seems

to be more biased towards the Counter Terrorist side. A solid CT defense can shut down an overall better team on

the offensive Terrorist side. Although there are exceptions to this rule; usually a lop-sided win on Terrorist side is

caused by an ‘exceptional’ team competing against an inferior one. A good example of such an exception happened

in professional gaming when Birmingham Salvo beat 4kings 14-1 on Terrorists at i33.

Positions

The image below shows the different areas of the map; they are by no means the “correct” names, but they are

the names my clan and I commonly use.

Bombsite B

There are two main access points to Bombsite B. One is through the tunnels and the other is through Mid Double

Doors. Bombsite B is probably best defended with the very common setup: two players in B site and another player

watching Double Doors up to Mid (ready to rotate). The two players in bombsite B are usually positioned so that

one of them is at the back by the Boxes and the other is closer to the tunnels near B Car. This allows for

a counter attack of sorts when being rushed; One of them flashes when they hear the enemy rushing and then

they attack from 2 directions while the enemy is still blind.

As a Terrorist you can hinder this tactic by throwing flashes over the wall from Mid as a properly thrown flash will

completely blind any CT defenders in B site. This is useful for getting the bomb down quickly and safely while

rushing into the site.

Protect The Middle

Since Mid is such a key bottleneck in this map, it’s important that the Mid player (perhaps the strongest player on

the team) holds the position down and makes all necessary calls over Ventrilo or Teamspeak as to the

Terrorist’s position.

Quick Tip

While defending Mid, if you suspect or hear Terrorists in Middle/Ramp area, throw flashes over or through the Mid

Double Doors. This will totally flash any Terrorist’s trying to setup a rush along Catwalk or into Mid and is a very

effective Counter-strike tactic to ‘keep them at bay’ .

Bombsite A

There are three access points into bombsite A, Short, Long and through Mid from CT spawn.

Short A is the riskiest way to attack on this map because you are vulnerable to snipers from Mid when you run

along catwalk. To make matters worse when you get up to the bricks/stairs area you are vulnerable to being “nade

bombed”, as a cat rush is very easy to spot.Aside from those issues, a catwalk rush can be very effective. An early

pick on the CT’s Mid defender or by smoking Mid (doesn’t always work) may allow you to get along catwalk

safely. If you are successful in taking out the CT at Mid you can pretty much guarantee that you can get the bomb

down at A (assuming you are quick enough).

Quick Tips

Remember to check behind the bricks at the top of stairs; Anyone hiding there can easily take out a few of the

attackers with an unfriendly welcome of rifle/smg fire. Another thing to note about short A is that you can throw

flashes over ALL the buildings there, so you can flash long A or top of mid quite easily and safely.

Going Long A can be risky business too, if you straight out rush it. In a match I played a few months ago, the

players watching A managed to kill four players and get the last one down to 20hp from a double nade at the very

start of the round. When rushing it, it’s best to wait for any nades or flashes the defenders throw in, then throw

your own flashes over the top or through the roof on the inside and rush it. When rushing in, check everywhere.

Check to the left of the Door, check Pit, check to the left behind the Big Box, and check to the right next to Pit

before even looking down to A site; not looking can be the downfall for a good rush.

Change it up

Although Dust2 is a timeless ancient, there are plenty of new strategies that can be dreamed up. I only covered

some of the basic strategies which should be a good foundation for any newer clan.

1. 1st Round.
The first round is crucial to ANY team and this round is the must win round of the whole
match as it can bring momentum to your team money wise and confidence wise.

Terrorist Side 1st round:

A good tactic that should be tried at least once is the fake strategy. how this works is, 2
people on your team buy a flash bang rest buy standard Armour. All 5 on your team go long
and rush, someone must pre flash the corner in case someone of CT has pushed it. Once
flashed you all pop around the corner and start firing bullet at whoever you see, if no one is
there fire at the boxes inside A site, just to let the CT's know your there. In doing this, this
will make the CT's rotate knowing that all 5 of you will be there. Thats when the fake comes
into play, 1 person must stay in pit at long and other 4 go back. Now that you have fallen,
the CT's will know you have tried to fake AT THIS STAGE. Now 4 of the terrorist split, 2 go T
spawn way to outside dark with the bomb, the other 2 stay at the top of mid near the tree.
Make sure you dont get spotted, the person in the pit will catch the CT's off guard because
now they will be pushing because they know you've fallen, once they start pushing the guy
at pit can pick them off as they come by. The people outside dark make there way into dark
while the people at mid have to be ready to flash mid and bust it. Once the people at mid
call "flashing mid rushing now" the people at b must rush with them, this creates the 2 on 1
at mid. The CT holding mid MUST DIE ! its 2 on 1!! if you cant kill him, Ur a dud xD. Once
he dies the people inside B SITE will be distracted by the 2 @ mid, then the 2 in dark rush B
and then the 2 at mid rush B site from ct spawn side which makes them sandwiched, this
grants the T's easy access to the site. The person on long may make his way down long
through ct and anal the people coming through. Secure the site make sure nothing is inside,
plant bomb and setup for the defuse if they get on it. This tactic is a REALLY good one but it
can be hard to pull off if one of you get picked off early. Now you must go over it and dry
run this strat as it must be performed withing 1:45 sec i think it is but its a very short
period to all of this stuff off so you must like go into a server with your team and practice
your pre flashes and ur rushing as a team skills

Counter Terrorist 1st round.

counter terrorist is the easier side for first round and is less tactical and more of
aim/skill/smart play. But this doesn't mean you work as an individual and play for yourself,
that is what happens to most team they have a player like that and want to be on top all
the time and make the best shots all the time. CT still needs A LOT of teamwork.

Holding A site:
In my opinion A is the harder site to hold because there is 3 ways to get into that site,
which is Stairs/Short, Long way and CT spawn. Short is the most difficult and id recommend
2 people play short for the first round. Its a very small area and you need people with good
aim there as well.
Short holds:
Anti Flash Hold:
This is a good hold for later rounds in the match when using a rifle, not so good for pistol
but can still be very effective as there will be 2 of you there, you can bait one another by 1
person peaking on the ramp of the site and one standing in the corner right of the ramp,
once they spot the guy on the ramp there focus will be on him. There will be nades flying
flashes maybe smokes. So be prepared to take hits the guy on the ramp.
You can still be flashed here but most people use there flashes at the stairs expecting you to
be there. Once they are pushing trying to kill the guy at the ramp, the person in the corner
pops out and gets as many kills as possible. Keep in mind you still have your backup from
the guy at long.

Goblin Hold:
on the very far right corner of the site there is a set of round boxes and there open, stand
on them and hug the wall, you are unseen there because when your on top of the boxes
and hugging the wall in front of you there is a piece of wall sticking out and you hide behind
it. Now the other person with you at short gos up close and sits near the stairs or he can
even push. He trys to get as many kills he can if they go short way. If he dies it tell the T's
that 1 down short, they make there up the stairs and look into site and see no one they
might think no one is @ short or in A anymore, thats when u come out the goblin spot and
bum rape there faces with you pistol.
Long Hold:
There is 3 main holds for long way, im not going to go into detail because i don't have much
time to do them atm :< i might edit it later but i dunno, here they are anyway.
In Site Hold:
It speaks for itself, you basically play long way from inside A site at the boxes or on the
floor near ct spawn, just be ready to flash/nade it and ask for backup if there coming
because hold long 1st round can be a VERY difficult task. Keep in mind you got the 2 people
at short for back up as well.
Big Box Hold:
You can hold behind the big box at long way and wait until you hear someone approaching
you then throw out a flash pop out and cap em'.
Pit Hold:
Holding from pit takes balls because most the time T's jump in there flash in there nade in
there etc. some you need 2 have some good ways to flash and bounce them off walls them
come out and pull a chuck Norris and kill all them LoL  . Pit hold is the most difficult hold
out of ALL A site holds. I prefer to not to pick that spot anyway (:.

Holding Middle:
Middle is probably the most important hold out of all because you have access to view short
from middle and tell your teammates that they are coming so they can prepare, but if they
kill you at mid that leave B site ct spawn and A site open to be backdoor'd from many ways.

Tree Hold:
This hold is my favourite because the T's only see half your body plus your behind a tree
which decreased damage taken but you get a limited view of terrorists aswell. You stand up
on the bricks and crouch not fully behind the tree but half behind it so its a less chance of
dying. But you have to have good aim to hold from this position.

CT spawn hold:
This is a defensive hold if your not very confident in playing mid, this hold allows you to
freely flash over the boxes nade etc and pop out and kill the T's that are coming through
mid. Disadvantage of this hold is they can sneak through past you and kill the people @ b if
you don't hold it right, and they can easily flash you as well as you can flash them easily.

Outside B hold:
Outside B hold is probably the most common used spot if your on the back foot and they
are dominating you at mid, you simply stand up on the boxes outside b and look over them
@ mid.

Holding B site:
Holding B site takes confidence because it is the most commonly rushed site and is the
easiest to access by flashing etc. But don't let this get to you head because as easy as it is
for them to get it, it is as easy to kill them.

Platform Hold:
Platform hold is my preferred holding position as there is many places on the platform to
hold from. You can hold it behind the big box and hide and wait for them to gain access into
the site and then pop out and head shot.
You can play from behind the 1st set of bricks or even the 2nd set of bricks but the 2nd set
of bricks is hard because it is further away and that means less damage and the target is
smaller.

Back of Site Hold:

You can hold behind the bricks at the back of site and nade flash from there as there is
more things to hide behind so its easy to throw then hide then pop out. You can play from
behind all the boxes at the very back left of the site behind them all. But it ALWAYS checked
i repeat IT IS ALWAYS CHECKED. so its not such a good idea but just a suggestion.

Gay spot:
This is a funny spot   its prob the 2nd most checked but a good place to hold because
once the t's enter the site there out in the open which give you more of a opportunity to kill
them. You can either stand behind the car in the site or behind the small box beside the car.

Thanks 4 reading guys, i hope for some feed back in future and i hope you have learnt
