Description:
My project is to create an infographic with tips and tricks for parents on how to keep
their children engaged in schoolwork during quarantine. I decided to make this because
students that are working from home have to manage their own schedule, and it can be
hard to stay productive. This infographic will be helpful to parents, especially ones with
smaller children who will most likely face the challenge of lack of interest in schoolwork
or boredom from their kids.
Steps:
1. Get the proposal approved and brainstorm possible tips and tricks to add.
2. Research 10 Tips and tricks use day one as research day and day two as “check
day” to make sure that I’m happy with my choices.
3. Create an infographic use first two days to make infographic Last day as a
“review” day to check for any errors or possible places for changes or
improvement.
Project calendar:

Materials/Resources:
- Chromebook
- Google
- Piktochart ( for infographic )
- Any cite used will be placed in a bibliography at the bottom of the infographic
Research:
- Set up a homework friendly area - Make sure your child has a well lit area to
do their homework, also have supplies such as paper and pencils in reach.
- Help them manage their time - On heavy homework nights, encourage your
child to break up their work into manageable chunks and to take a 10 - 15 minute
break every hour, if possible.
- Keep Distractions minimal - No TV or loud phone calls.
- Be a Motivator not Monitor - Ask about assignments, quizzes and tests. Give
them encouragement and make yourself available for questions or concerns.
- Praise their work efforts - Acknowledge their accomplishments and hard work.
- Create a school like atmosphere - try to replicate school hours ( have lunch
when you would if you were at school ) .
- Keep things interesting - create a question of the day based on what subjects
your child is learning.
- Set up an award system - Allow more screen time if your child stays on task
and gets their work done.

Obstacles and Solutions:
1. Design idea - Test formats and design set ups and see what looks the best.
2. Good tips - Ask myself would it work for me, if not then it is no good and make
changes from there.
3. Interpretation of tips - Give detailed explanations and run them by others to make
sure my message is conveyed as intended.
