Background

This Technical Bulletin contains the specifications of plungers with barrels and fuel nozzles for
A/AS/AT25 engines.

1. PLUNGER AND BARREL

1.1. Designation

Please find on the sketch below the key to the designation marks on a plunger and its barrel.

1.2. Specification

Please find on the table below the correct plunger type suitable for your engine (please refer to
enclosure A_7.2/1 for the respective drawings).

Valid for A/AS25 engines only:


- Depending on the fuel type, the clearance between plunger and barrel is different. It is 6 – 8 µm for
HFO engines and 4 – 6 µm for MDO engines.
- Type 260 plungers are also used for the previous type fuel pump housing with a distance ring
inserted between plunger and pump housing (please refer to enclosure A-7.2/1).

1.3. Delivery Stroke

Delivery stroke and pre-stroke of type 260 plungers deviate from the other types (see table below).
For the detailed adjusting procedure please refer to the maintenance manual.

2. DATA FOR ORDERING SPARE PARTS


When ordering any parts mentioned in this Technical Bulletin through Wärtsilä Netherlands B.V., the
following information has to be given:
Code number, Engine type, nominal speed, fuel type and application (constant speed or variable
speed). For fuel nozzles we need additionally: Spray angle, number of spray holes and hole diameter.

Documentation Add this information to your engine manual.
