Tip of the Month with Coach Dave Pezzino

While it is hard to get out to the

course in the Winter months,
you can still maintain some
aspects of your game. It may be
hard to hit drivers and irons,
however, it is possible to keep
the basics of short putting
intact. During the season, I
often notice that most amateurs
struggle with their short putting.
Often times it is a result of lack
of practice as well as an increase
of gimmies during Saturday skins
matches. One drill to practice
your short putting is to practice
them on any carpet in your
house. You can put some sort of
coin down and then practice
hitting puts from short
distances. One drill that we use
with the team is they need to hit
5 putts in a row from 1 foot, 2
feet, 3 feet, 4 feet, and all the
way up to 7 feet. If you miss your

putt, you must star back and go again until you make
all of them in a row. You can do this in your own house We are on Facebook! Search UConn
by only hitting 2 balls in a row. Look at the picture on Men’s Golf and “like us” today to stay
in tune with the latest news and
the page to see what I’m talking about. The good information from the UConn Golf
thing about doing this in the o"season is that you are Team

able to do this on flat ground. Once the season starts,

try moving this drill to your local practice green and Save the date for the Joe Giannelli
putt on ground that is not so flat. Best of luck and Classic at Shelter Harbor Golf Club
