Who we are

Village Ministries is a non-denominational evangelical ministry dedicated to

serving the forgotten people in villages around the world. VMI began as a
result of a cassette tape purchased on the black market in West Africa. The
purchaser, wanting a tape to record music, decided to listen to it first and was
intrigued. For the first time he heard the life-saving message of the gospel
along with in-depth Bible teaching. After a few years of correspondence with
the American pastor on the tape Africa Village Missions was formed in 1990.
Over the next couple of years more ministries were added until a parent
organization, Village Ministries International, was established.

VMI is made up of prayer partners, donors, volunteers, staff and missionaries

who share the passion of taking simple STEPS to God’s kingdom. We….

 Seek those in need of a Savior. Matthew 28:18-20

 Train others to teach others. 2 Timothy 2:2
 Encourage fellow Believer’s to help build up the Body of Christ. 1
Thessalonians 5:11
 Partner with like-minded Believers and Ministries. Philippians 1:27
 Serve in love. John 13:34-35

 Our Beliefs
 We believe…
 …the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is authoritative and infallible
in the original writings.
 …in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit.
 …in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless
life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed
blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of
God the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
 …that faith alone in Christ alone is essential for the salvation by grace
of lost and sinful man.
 …in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the
Christian is enabled to live a godly life.
 …in the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and eternal
life.
 …in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ.
 DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
 I. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Holy Scriptures in the original autographs, to be God’s
inspired Word, inerrant, infallible, authoritative and sufficient in all
matters upon which it touches. The Scriptures are solely and inclusively
the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Pet 1:20-
21; Matt 5:18; John 16:13; Heb 4:12).
 II. The Godhead
We believe in one Triune God, existing in three persons, Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit, eternal in being, equal in power and glory, and having
the same attributes (Deut 6:4; Matt 28:19; 2 Cor 13:14).
 III. The Person and Work of the Father
We believe the Father is the planner of creation and redemption, that
His plan for the human race is one of grace and that He works all things
in accordance with His will (1 Cor 8:6; 12:6; Eph 1:11).
 IV. The Person and Work of Jesus Christ
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, became
man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived of the Holy
Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and
redeem sinful man; that He accomplished redemption for all mankind
through His death on the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice; that
eternal life is guaranteed to Believers by His literal physical resurrection
from the dead; that He is now in heaven, exalted and seated at the right
hand of the Father, where, as the High Priest for His people, He fulfills
the ministry of Representative, Intercessor and Advocate (John 1:1-
2,14; Luke 1:35; Rom 3:24-25; 1 Pet 1:3-5; Heb 9:24; 7:25; Rom 8:34; 1
John 2:1-2).
 V. The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity who ministers
to mankind in these ways:
 A. He convicts mankind of the sins of unbelief and unrighteousness,
warning of judgment (John 16:8-11).
 B. At the moment of salvation, He permanently regenerates new
Believers, baptizes them into the body of Christ and indwells and seals
them unto the day of redemption (John 3:3-7; 1 Cor 6:19; Eph 1:13; 1
Cor 12:13).
 C. He leads into Truth (John 16:13).
 D. He fills the Believer except when He is grieved (Eph 4:30) or
quenched (1 Thes 5:19) by sin, which is a failure to “walk in the light” (1
John 1:7). Breach of fellowship with the Holy Spirit is restored by
confession of sin (1 John 1:9; 1
Cor 11:31), resulting in fruit (Gal 5:22-23) which becomes more
apparent as the believer grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord
Jesus Christ (2 Pet 3:18).
 E. Spiritual gifts are bestowed by the Holy Spirit on every believer at the
moment of salvation (Rom 12:6-8; 1 Cor 12:7-11, 28-30; Eph 4:11).
These spiritual gifts are the means by which every Christian fulfills their
full-time ministry in the Christian way of life. While God can and does
supernaturally intervene in the affairs of mankind, the “temporary” gifts
of Apostleship, healing, miracles, speaking in other languages and
interpreting them, prophecy and discerning of spirits, wisdom, faith and
knowledge are no longer operational (1 Cor 13:8-13).
 VI. Creation
We believe the literal Genesis account of Creation in which God created
the universe out of nothing by His spoken word (Gen 1:1 ff; Psa 33:6-9).
 VII. Satan
We believe that Satan is a real created being, the fallen angel, Lucifer,
who is the open and declared enemy of God and man until his final and
ultimate demise in the lake of fire forever (Matt 4:2-11; Job 1:6-7; Isa
14:12-17; Ezek 28:14-18; Rev 20:10).
 VIII. The Total Depravity of Man
We believe that man was created in the immaterial image and likeness
of God, but that in Adam’s sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature and
became alienated from God. Man is not capable of redeeming himself
(Gen 1:2-27; Rom 3:22-23; Rom 5:12; Eph 2:12).
 IX. Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to men by grace and
received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ who died for the
forgiveness of our sins (1 Pet 1:18-19; Eph 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph 1:7).
God does not overrule man’s free will in accepting or rejecting His
provision of salvation (2 Pet 3:9; John 3:16, 18). Man appropriates this
salvation on the simple basis of belief in Christ’s literal death for sins,
His burial and literal, bodily resurrection from the dead (1 Cor 15:1-4;
Acts 16:31, 4:12; John 20:31; 1 John 5:11-12).
 X. The Eternal Security of Believers
We believe that all believers are kept secure forever, meaning that
salvation cannot be lost or taken away (Rom 8:1, 35-39; John 10:27-30;
1 Cor 1:4-9; 1 Pet 1:3-5; Jude 24; 1 John 5:11-13).
 XI. The Church Universal
We believe that the Church, which is the body of Jesus Christ, is a
spiritual organism made up of all born-again believers from the Day of
Pentecost until the Rapture,
distinct from Israel and irrespective of affiliation with Christian or
ecclesiastical organizations (Eph 1:22-23; Eph 5:25-27; Col 1:18; 1 Cor
12:12-14).
 XII. The Church: Visible, Local, Autonomous
We believe that the body of Christ is visibly functional through self-
governing organizations called local churches. The establishment and
continuance of self-governing local churches is clearly taught and
defined in the New Testament Scriptures (Acts 20:17, 28-32; 1 Tim 3:1-
13; Titus 1:5-11; 1 Cor 1:1-2; Phil 1:1).
 XIII. Church Ordinances
 A. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is the commemoration and
proclamation of Christ’s death until He comes, and that it is to be
celebrated regularly in anticipation of His return (1 Cor 11:23-26). We
also believe that whereas the elements of communion are only
representative of Christ’s flesh and blood, the Lord’s Supper is
nevertheless an actual Communion with the risen Christ who is present
in a unique way, fellowshipping with His people (1 Cor 10:16).
 B. We believe water baptism by immersion to be the solemn and
beautiful testimony of the Christian showing forth his faith in the
crucified, buried, and risen Savior, and his union with Him in death to sin
and resurrection to new life (Rom 6:4-6); that it is also a sign of
fellowship and identification with the visible body of Christ (Acts 2:41-42;
Mark 1:9-11; Acts 2:38, 41; 8:38).
 XIV. The Blessed Hope
We believe that the next great event in the fulfillment of prophecy will be
the coming of the Lord Jesus in the air to receive to Himself the dead in
Christ and believers who are alive at His coming, otherwise known as
the Rapture of the Church (1 Cor 15:51-57; 1 Thes 1:9-10; 1 Thes 4:13-
18; Titus 2:11-14).
 XV. The Tribulation
We believe that the Rapture of the Church will be followed by the
fulfillment of Daniel’s Seventieth Week, known as the Tribulation, the
latter half of which is the Great Tribulation (Dan 9:27; Jer 30:7; Matt
24:15-21; Rev 16:1-19, 21).
 XVI. The Second Coming of Christ
We believe that the Great Tribulation will be climaxed by the
Premillennial return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth to set up His
kingdom (Zech 14:4-11; Matt 24:27-31; 2 Thes 1:7-10; Rev 20:6).
 XVII. The Eternal State
We believe that the souls of those who have trusted in the Lord Jesus
Christ for salvation do at death immediately pass into His presence (2
Cor 5:8; Luke 23:43; Phil 1:23) and there remain in conscious bliss until
the resurrection of the body when soul and body, reunited, shall be
associated with Him forever (1 Thes 4:17).
 The souls of unbelievers remain after death in conscious misery (Luke
16:19-26) until the Final Judgment of the Great White Throne after the
close of the Millennium, when soul and body, reunited, shall be cast into
the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to be punished with
everlasting destruction from the presence and glory of the Lord (2 Thes
1:7-9; Jude 6-7; Rev 20:11-15).
 XVIII. The Responsibility of Believers
We believe that all Believers should seek to walk in such a manner as
not to bring reproach upon their Lord and Savior which includes Biblical
separation from the world, though not isolation (1 Cor 5:9-13; Rom 12:1-
2; Rom 14:13; 2 Cor 6:14-7:1); seeking to not discredit the ministry in
anything (2 Cor 4:1-2; 6:3); and not living in willful sin (1 Tim 1:8-10; Col
3:1-6); that it is the obligation and privilege of every Believer to witness
by life and by word to the truths of Holy Scripture and to seek to
proclaim the Gospel to all the world (Acts 1:8; 2 Cor 5:20); that it is the
objective to “keep the faith,” but recognizing that the Believer may not
persevere to the end (2 Tim 2:13); that it is the responsibility of all
believers to remember the work of the Lord in prayer and support it with
their means as the Lord has prospered them (1 Cor 16:2; 2 Cor 9:7).
 XIX. Marriage and Family
We believe the institutions of marriage (Genesis 2:20-25, Matthew 19:1-
6, Mark 10:6-9), family (Genesis 2:24), responsible dominion of man
over the earth (Genesis 1:28, Genesis 9:1, Hebrews 2:5-8), human
government (Genesis 9:6, Romans 13:1-4), and national diversity
(Exodus 1:5, Deuteronomy 32:8, Acts 17:26) are established by God,
are defined and limited by God in Scripture, and shall not be
transgressed or altered by man.
 What we do
 VMI has a dual strategy in its outreach. One aspect is evangelism
through conducting Vacation Bible Schools, young adult and baseball
camps. These and other methods are all performed in various outposts
throughout the world. Through these different activities not only are
young people reached but their parents as well. Local pastors are then
enlisted to do follow up with the families. Additionally, VMI distributes
gospel coins, on behalf of Operation Grace, to Believers to enhance
their personal one-on-one evangelism efforts.
 VMI’s second aspect is to train rural pastors so they may go and teach
others (2 Timothy 2:2). This is accomplished through several different
models that VMI has utilized since its inception. Joining with its
partnering missionaries, two or three day conferences are hosted to
bring rural pastors to a centralized city and conduct training seminars
that begin in the morning, and last into the night. Those who attend
agree to go and teach others God’s truth. Along with these seminars our
partner missionaries often facilitate weekly study classes for a brief
period of time to train pastors and Christian workers. Additionally, some
of these local missionaries host a training center to selected individuals
for an extended period of time to gain an even deeper knowledge of the
Word.
 In this dual strategy short-term mission teams are infused. They not only
encourage the local ministry in that area, but provide an opportunity for
those who have a heart for sharing the Gospel and teaching God’s
Word to get involved.
 All of our resources are freely given to “equip the saints for the work of
service, to build up the body of Christ.”
Ephesians 4:12
 Missionary Partners
 They go where most won’t go, serving the forgotten peoples of the
world. Their message is the gospel of the grace of the Lord Jesus
Christ. They diligently teach God’s Word and are blessed watching
disciples made. VMI’s Missionary Partners are passionate in reaching
the world for Christ.
 Our American and Indigenous partners serve on four continents. Most
of the countries served face increasing persecution, so for their safety
they are not listed on our website.
 Know Him
 What must I do to be a Christian?
 If you have not believed in Jesus as the Messiah, this is where your
Christian life must begin, because the “natural man” (the man who has
not believed in Jesus Christ) cannot accept or understand the Spiritual
things of God.
 “But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God; for
they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because
they are spiritually appraised.”
1 Corinthians 2:14
 Every human being has sinned, meaning to violate the standards set by
God, and the result of that sin is death (separation from God).
 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” Romans 3:23 “For
the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
 Salvation is by faith alone in Christ alone. Good works will not save.
 “For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one
should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 “But when the kindness of God our
Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the
basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to
His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy
Spirit,” Titus 3:4-5
 Faith is only as good as its object. Therefore, the object must be worth
believing in. For your soul to be eternally saved from spiritual death
requires you to believe that Jesus is the Messiah, namely: that He died
for your sins, was buried and rose again on the third day. It is putting
your trust in the finished work of the Lord for personal deliverance from
the Lake of Fire.
 “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that
Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was
buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the
Scriptures, and that He appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-5
 There is no “work” you can do to be saved other than the “work of faith”
that is to believe in the Person and Work of Jesus the Messiah.
 “They said therefore to Him, ‘What shall we do, that we may work the
works of God?’ Jesus answered and said to them, ‘This is the work of
God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.’” John 6:28-29
 Once you have believed, you are a new creation that is designed for
good works.
 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,
which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in
them.” Ephesians 2:10
 Newsletter
 The VillageDrum is an electronic newsletter that focuses on reports from
the field in a reduced format that is readable on a phone or tablet. It
presents the highlights of the ministry the Lord is accomplishing through
His faithful servants in the field. It is the intent and desire for the
VillageDrum to serve as your “window” to view the ministry more clearly.
Also, it is another vehicle to make known the opportunities for personal
involvement through prayer, short-term mission trips, volunteering or
giving. So, if you would like to subscribe to the VillageDrum, email us at:
 vmi@villageministries.org
 As always, VMI never shares your contact information with other
parties, so you will not receive junk mail as a result of subscribing to
receive this publication.
 Pray
 Early in VMI’s formative years an email system to distribute prayer
requests was developed called Uplink. Its purpose is to contact faithful
prayer partners with requests from the mission field and
administration. Uplink keeps the subscriber up-to-date with not only
ongoing and urgent prayer requests, but answers to prayer as well.  It is
encouraging to all as we watch God work.
 In the midst of the spiritual battle, prayer is still the most effective
weapon, so let us remember the words of the Apostle Paul, “With all
prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be
on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, “
(Ephesians 6:18).
 If you would like to participate in this important ministry please email
your request to:
 vmi@villageministries.org
 Mission Trips
 Evangelize, equip and construct. These are the ministry outreaches of
our short-term mission teams. Teams travel to four continents to
facilitate the spread of God’s kingdom.
 Evangelize, whether door to door in villages or conducting camps for all
ages. There is no limit on how the Lord can use a willing heart to spread
the gospel of Jesus Christ.
 Equip those who want to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. Through training conferences, pastors and
Christian workers learn the necessary tools to accurately study the
Word of God. Those participating are given books to train others who
seek to multiply disciples.
 Construct through helping people better their environment while
sharing the love of Christ.
 This is VMI’s three fold approach to build up the Body of Christ through
short-term missions.
 Changing hearts, changing lives and changing communities. All for the
glory of God
 Now what?
 I’m a child of God….now what?
 You are free to live the Christian life and mature:
 God offers freedom from the guilt and punishment of sin to all who put
their faith and trust in Jesus Christ (Galatians 5:1).  As one who has
believed in Jesus Christ for these things, you are now assured of His
acceptance of you as member of His eternal family (John 10:27-29).
Now that you are His child and a Christian, it is important to know the
fundamental truths of Christianity so that you may grow to spiritual
maturity (2 Peter 3:18).
 The Bible is our instruction manual for life:
 The Bible is the written revelation of the Living Word of God (Hebrews
4:12). It has been inspired by the Holy Spirit so that human authors
wrote down exactly what He led them to write. We are invited to let His
Word richly dwell in us (Colossians 3:16) so that we may be able to do
that which is pleasing in His sight (2 Corinthians 5:9).
 God consists of three Persons:
 This is known as “The Trinity.” The Father is the Planner, the Son is the
One who carries out the Father’s Plan, and the Holy Spirit is the
Revealer of the Plan (John 16:13-15). They are three persons in one
being. Jesus is the “exact representation” of the nature of
God (Hebrews 1:3) meaning that He is the part of the Godhead that
became visible.
 As a child of God you have obtained:
 The Father’s love that made you His child.
1 John 3:1
 The guarantee of a new body with the ability to see God’s glory for
eternity.
1 John 3:2
 The power through reliance on the Holy Spirit to identify false spirits
(which are views of the world that are not of God).
1 John 4:1-4
 The indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit to lead us as evidence of our
regeneration, (which means we have been born again).
Romans 8:16
 The sealing, or spiritual mark of approval, of the Holy Spirit who
guaranteed our inheritance.
Ephesians 1:13
 An inheritance of heavenly blessings that will last forever.
Romans 8:17
 The Glory of being a child of The King.
Romans 8:21
 The power to be “above reproach,” meaning to live by God’s standards
in your culture and era.
Philippians 2:15
 A never-ending spiritual life, so that you may have courage in this life.
John 3:16
 How then should I live as a child of God?
By confessing your sins to God and thus allowing your relationship with
Him to develop.
1 John 1:9
 By not “grieving,” or disappointing, the Holy Spirit through sin in your life
by consistently examining yourself.
Ephesians 4:30
 By not “quenching” the Holy Spirit, which means to reject His leading by
living in ongoing sin, with no desire to stop sinful activity.
1 Thessalonians 5:19
 By praying at all times to the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit, in
the Name of the Son.
1 Thessalonians 5:17
 By the endurance of suffering as a good soldier, prepared for spiritual
battle.
2 Timothy 2:3
 By recognizing discipline from God and making adjustments to your life.
Hebrews 12:4-6
 By seeking to be a “doer” of the Word and not just a “hearer” of it.
James 1:22
 By diligently studying the Scriptures to show yourself approved seeking
to accurately interpret His Word and apply it to life.
2 Timothy 2:15
 By growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 3:18
 By going to make disciples, or students of the Word of God who seek to
live its truths, by teaching them to observe all that He
commands. Matthew 28:18-20
 As you begin your journey into God’s Word we offer a free tool that will
assist you in your study.

ATA youth is the part of our ministry which reaches out to needy children.  ATA helps
provide for the physical needs for about ninety children.  Each of these children receive
spiritual training so that they know who Jesus is.

Each Sunday morning we travel to an orphanage where we teach the children truths
about Jesus. At 2:00 each Sunday afternoon between 50-60 youth meet under the
canopy in our yard for two hours of Bible study. We study different books of the Bible
and an emphasis is placed on how we apply what is found in the Bible to our daily lives.
These students attend church in the mornings before coming to Bible study.

It is exciting to see their enthusiasm for learning. We seek to educate the next
generation of Christian leaders that Uganda needs so badly, and we are seeing
positive results as our youth mature. Currently three of our youth are attending Bible
College. One of our students shows he is a true servant as each Saturday he goes to
his church and cleans it and sets the chairs up for worship. Three of our youth recently
returned from a mission trip they made to the far west of Uganda where they
enthusiastically worked with a very poor people in a very remote area

Africans Teaching Africans Bible Training

2Tim 2:2  “and what you have heard from me in the presence of many
witnesses
entrust to faithful men
Currently there are many thousands of men and women in Africa who
are
serving as pastors with little or no Bible training.  These sincere pastors
need
training to be able to teach and preach faithfully from the Bible. We
recognize
that these pastors will continue to serve even if they are never trained.  The
purpose of Africans Teaching Africans is to train these pastors where they
live,
regardless of any money or education they lack. ATA is mostly concerned
with
teaching pastors and church leaders who are unqualified and unable to go
to
Bible College.

Additionally, there is a great hunger all over Africa for learning the Bible.

Africans Teaching Africans is not just for pastors; it is also for any person
desiring to learn God’s Word. It is currently being taught to many members
of
churches, in prisons, and in Scripture Unions in secondary schools.
Africans
Teaching Africans is a non-denominational effort. We are Christians of all
denominations working together for God’s glory.

There are many graduates from various Bible schools scattered

throughout
Africa.  Our plan is to help these graduates enthusiastically enlarge their
ministries by sharing their Bible knowledge with other Christians. This will
benefit God’s kingdom by seeing these untrained pastors cease to teach
their
erroneous opinions and begin teaching the truths of the Bible.

We provide teaching notes to help teachers organize their classes. We

have
no money to pay our teachers. Their payment will come from God.
The ministry
doesn’t need money because we suggest that teachers only teach part time
and
continue to do their regular work. Also they teach only part of a day
so people
don’t have to be fed; teachers should teach where they live so that there is
no
need for transportation money.

Take your current ministry and expand it. Continue your current

ministry
and teach pastors as a part time ministry. Our goal is to replace ignorant
teaching
with Bible teaching. Think of the implications for the kingdom.  You can be a
part
of this exciting vision.

We are not starting Bible colleges; we are starting teaching points all
over
Africa.  Completion of the program qualifies those formally enrolled to
receive a
certificate. The certificate will be issued when a person can successfully
prepare
and deliver a Bible sermon. Certificates of attendance are awarded to those
who
are not pastors who complete studying the curriculum.

It is important that all preachers and Bible teachers only teach what is in
the
Bible. It is equally important that Christians only believe what the Bible says
about God and that they quit believing “what the man of God” says about
God
unless the “man of God” can support his words from the Bible.
We Believe:
1. In the word-by-word inspiration and divine authority of the Holy Scriptures.

2. In one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. In the Lord Jesus Christ as true God and true man; His virgin birth, spotless
humanity, vicarious death, bodily resurrection, present advocacy, and His
personal, imminent, bodily, visible return for His church.

4. In the fall of man, resulting in his complete and universal separation from
God and his complete need of salvation.

5. That the Lord Jesus Christ died and shed His blood as the only sufficient
sacrifice for sin.

6. That salvation is a free and everlasting gift of God, entirely apart from works;
that every person is responsible to receive salvation; salvation is by personal
faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; that a soul truly saved can never be lost.

7. That the Holy Spirit regenerates with divine life and personally indwells the
believer upon his faith in Christ for salvation.

8. In the resurrection of both the saved and the unsaved.

9. In the unending life of the saved with the Lord, and the unending
punishment of the unsaved.

10. In the responsibility of each believer, motivated by the love of Christ, and
empowered by the Holy Spirit, to witness for Christ and to live sacrificially for
the proclamation of the Gospel into all the world.
