Advanced, Composite, Matrix, nBox, Search, Simple, Transposed, and Trending

These different report types allow for advanced use cases without having to engage
expensive consultants. Some options available include:

 Aggregating/summarizing numeric data and visually charting the results.

 Changing rows and columns dynamically to view different summarizations.
 Drilling into a summarized amount for further analysis, and taking action
based on new insights.
 Drilling into details that comprise any summarized amounts.

Simple and Advanced:

The bulk of custom reports created by your organization will likely be an Advanced
report type.

The Advanced and Simple report types are perhaps the easiest reports to build. A
Simple report provides straightforward design options for the beginning or occasional
user to create reports quickly and easily. The Advanced report type has additional
options, allowing for more control within the report.

The output looks like a standard Excel with columns and rows. The simple report type
allows for the basics like sorting and filtering. Advanced report type adds on the ability
to filter on sub-objects; allows for configuration of prompts on run-time; allows for the
configuration of the output, such as adding a chart for visualization; security
configuration to allow more granular control of who has access to the report; and the
advanced options allow for several additional neat items like saving the prompt options,

Matrix

The Matrix report will likely be the next most utilized report as it summarizes data. The
resulting report enables interactive reporting across dimensions, grouping and
summarizing of data, as well as interactive drilling across different dimensions. You can
also use one or more matrix reports in composite reporting.

Composite

The Composite report is used to combine data found on different data sources,
including sub-reports, into one report. Additionally, composite reports allow you to
perform column, row, and cell calculations, apply formatting styles, filter rows with
outlining by multiple business objects and apply outlining to repeating columns
nBox

The nBox report is the bread and butter of the Performance Review process. It allows
you to build a report similar to the Talent Matrix report available in Workday HCM.
However, unlike the Workday delivered Talent Matrix reports, the nBox reports you
create are fully configurable. You can control:

 The field for horizontal axis

 The field for vertical axis
 Facet filters displayed
 Run time prompts
 Whether or not to display worker names in addition to worker photographs

Search

Search reports enable you to sort through high volumes of indexed data sources and
narrow your results by using facet filters and by searching within the report.

Transposed

The Transposed report type allows for the data that would normally be in the rows to be
in the columns for side by side comparison of data.

Domain Security Policy - This is where we can do some configuration.  While we

cannot change what comes delivered in a Domain, with the domain security policy we control access to
it.  So we control who can 'View and Modify' or 'View Only' or 'Get and Put'.

Within this security policy we address 'Securable Actions' and 'Securable Reporting Items'.  So for the
Task 'Create Job Profile' or 'Delete Job Family', we say that it is a 'Modify' task rather than 'View' task.

For individual fields that fall under this area, we can then define if those are viewable or not too.

So let's work with an example so far:

 In the Functional area of 'Jobs & Positions' we have a Domain called 'Set Up: Jobs & Positions'.
 We have Business Processes such as 'Edit Position' or 'Create Position'.
 We apply a Domain Security Policy to 'Set Up: Jobs & Positions' so that various tasks are given
either view or modify rights.
We then attach the above to a 'Security Group' via configuration tasks, and this is how a user is able to
view tasks, perform function, etc.

I realize the above is quite a complex topic--you can see why this can be a full training course from
Workday!  Let's talk some more about the User piece on a different day...
