Re-flashing Wizard

Manual
for Pantech DUO

At February 28th, 2007

Pre-step 1: The device should be powered off –
before the re-flashing starts.

The device should be


powered off first before
you start re-flashing.
Pre-step 2: The ActiveSync should be disabled.
For Windows 2000 and XP

The ActiveSync connection


should be disabled to
reduce the troubles before
you start re-flashing.

OR
Pre-step 2: The Windows Mobile Device Center
(WMDC) should be disabled.
For Windows Vista

The WMDC
connection should be
disabled to reduce
the troubles before
you start re-flashing.
Pre-step 3: Find the USB/ Data Cable, which
can be used also for re-flashing

Please find the USB Cable for


the DUO device and note
that:
Green/part to Device,
Red/part to USB Connector in
Laptop.

Pre-step 4: Plug the USB Connector to Laptop

The USB Connector


should be plugged in to
Laptop as in the Red
circle.

Pre-step 5: Ready to start for Re-flashing.

Now you are ready to start


the re-flashing _without_
the device connected to
cable yet - as in the Red
circle.

Step 1: Run the Re-flashing Wizard.

* Go on to the next step

Step 2: Install USB driver.

Press Install button, and you can


install USB driver.

* If you installed the driver ever, you may skip


this step.

Step 3: Make the device in the status
for „Download Ready‟.

NOW you should make the


device in the status of
„Download Ready‟. In order to
achieve this, please power up
the device while you are holding
down the „2‟ key as in the RED
circle – until you see „Download
Ready‟ text on screen as in the
GREEN circle.

Step 4: Connect the USB Cable/ 16-pin
end to the device.

NOW you should connect the


USB Cable/ 16-pin end to the
device – as in the RED circle.
In parallel you can see the
„Download Ready‟ text on screen
as in the GREEN circle.

Step 5: Re-flashing starts
with a „Start‟ button pressed.

For re-flashing to be started,
please press the button of „Start‟
in RED circle first of all.

* Do not check “Emergency mode” when finish


successfully.

Step 6: Re-flashing Complete.

Step 6-1: When finished successfully.

When the re-flashing has finished successfully, you can


see the device boot-up automatically as in the screen
shots above – left to right.
Then, you need to follow the step guided by Windows
Mobile – for the initial device set-up.

Step 6-2: Changing the Modem Link to “Inactive”
and enable ActiveSync USB connection.
While your phone was reflashing with the upgrade software, the
Modem Link was changed to “Active” mode and the ActiveSync USB
connection was disabled.

To allow the phone to work with Microsoft ActiveSync, do the following.

1. On the phone, Go to Start > Settings > Connections > Modem Link >
Select “Inactive” > Press Done.

2. On the PC, Go to
ActiveSync > Click File > Connection Settings > Check the box for
“Allow USB Connections”. (Win2000 or XP)
Windows Mobile Device Center > Mobile Device Settings >
Connection Settings > Check the box for “Allow USB Connections”.

Step 7-1: when going to a failure.
When the re-flashing moves forward to a failure, you don‟t see any
change the LCD/ display of the device, and you can see Green LED light.

Sorry for this failure!

Now, you should do:


. Exit the re-flashing application.
. Remove the USB cable from the device.
. Remove the battery from the device.
. Then, start again from the beginning
to pre step B on the re-flashing wizard.

Step 7-2: when going to a failure.
Now you have to check “Emergency mode” on Re-flashing start page.
Then press start button, and Re-
flashing will be starting.
