Putting words to my “inner” GOALs…
▪ My personality (temperament + character)
is still negotiating the difficult transition
from childhood to adulthood. I am 1. Strengthening Self Esteem
discovering more and more that the
certainties of childhood no longer work for 2. Pursuit of Personal Style
the new person I am rapidly becoming. I
am questioning everything that had 3. Proper use of Freedom
previously been immune to scrutiny. 4. Friendship and Leisure Pursuits
5. Sexual Behavior and Trends
▪ This seems to then create a “crisis” ,
which means a refashioning of attitudes. 6. Approaches to Transcendence
In order to do this, I need to establish my
“own space” . This search for privacy and
independence can lead to clashes with
parents, siblings, and society.

Temperament & Virtuous Leadership

1. Understanding who you are

2. Self Knowledge

3. Self Improvement

Summary of Background/Temperament Gaps
1. That likely my parents related HAVING AS OPPPOSED TO BEING….thus material things

/getting things done for me /not pushing me to gain good habits.

2. That I am unaware and was not brought up knowing my inborn tendency to react in

certain ways emotionally and behaviorally and therefore have either many accumulated

bad habits /wounded relationships.

3. Lack of knowledge of self has led me not to fully take advantage of my strengths and

work on my weaknesses over the years and likely then I work more on comparing myself

with others, without confronting myself….and social media does not help….

Happy? Be Grateful!
Gratefulness Happy?
When you are happy, you are grateful…
Those grateful are those that are happy.
1. Stop!
Gratefulness?? Something valuable to us and really given.
The key is that we cannot experience only once in a while…we
can be people who live gratefully. Every moment is a given
2. Look/Quiet! moment, is a gift. Gift within the gift in the moment is the
opportunity. We can be grateful for every given moment.

3. Go/Act
Conclusion: Conquer Self – Drive Self! Know ThySelf

Character

Character is the set of dispositions

that a person expresses through his
or her ethical and psychological
actions, and that reflect
individuality and identity.

Character

These dispositions are stable, because

they identify all the dynamisms of the
person, but are not innate nor
immutable, and therefore can be
educated and developed…..in short,
they are good habits…

Character – Good habits…

1.Prudence (to perceive decisions fully in their

complexity or simplicity – with an ideal to discover
human nature)
2.Fortitude or courage (to stay on course with or
without feelings,

Copyright, Centre for Research on Organizations Work & Family & Program for Family Development
Character – good habits

3. Justice ( to give both God and others their due)

4. Temperance or Self Control – to
subordinates/moderate passions( emotions +
feelings). Self-control goes against the culture of our
time that has emphasis on sensual pleasure and
material comfort.
