A word can have more than one function. For example, it can act as a noun (I need more practice) and a verb
(I practice the piano every day).

Word families
A group of related words is called a word family. Sometimes the words in a family look alike, as in Be sure to back up
your file and Watch your back, but often they do not, as in He plays on defense and A goal keeper defends the goal
and She’s very defensive.
When you learn a new word, it is a good idea to learn other functions and forms of the word, the other members of its
word family.
Look at the words in this family.
