Ми не вживаємо правило Sequence of Tenses
1. коли в підрядному реченні
(a) йдеться про відому істину або загальновідомі факти: He explained (Past Simple) that Earth rotates (Present
Simple) round its axes.
(b) якщо в прямій мові зазначено точну дату або час виконання: He said that he was born in 1990 (Past
Simple)/ he met him when his mother was doing her studies at university (Past Continuous).

2. коли дія підрядного додаткового речення

(a) відбувається водночас з дією головного речення: Why are you so boring? I told you I am busy.
(b) коли ми перепрошуємо відразу після повідомлення: What did you say? I didn’t hear. – I said I am very
busy. (Informal Speech, Immediate reporting)
