Assessment

Direction: Elaborate on your relevant insights about the following philosophical statements:

1. “Know thy self”


-Each of us has our own way of knowing ourselves, being exposed by our environment, had the
ability to discover ourselves. Discover personality, emotions, attitude, Skills and ability.
Ability on how to deal our lives from the society, environment and to people around us,
including on how to deal our problems in our own ways. There is a long process in discovering
ourselves, but we should always remember that we must live our lives to the fullest.

2. “I think, therefor I am”


-This simplifies doubt and self-confidence we should always believe that we can do all things as
soon as we have the courage to spend time doing it well.

3. “Nothing but Matter Exist”


-These means all things in existence are matter, but no matter what we do we should always
remember to do good,we may fail but at least we try and most specially we learned.

4. “We are ghost in the machine”


-Self-consciousness is how it define, by doing things we should always consider both positive
and negative results, but there is always a big opportunity ahead if you just believed in yourself.

5. “The self is a bundle theory of mind”

-In all aspects of our lives we consider that our self is a bundle theory of our mind, what ever we
do is a learning process, every experience has learning through the reflection of doing. So we
need to be careful of doing things or for the decisions we made.
REFLECTION

1. Why do you think understanding the self is necessary?


- Being ourselves or taking care of ourself is not selfish, we need to understand ourself based
from our abilities, characteristics, attitudes for us we know on how to deal ourselves from
the people around us and from the obstacles that we may encounter. Understanding
ourselves is a long process, we need to be open for what may things happen, how we
handle challenge that comes to our way and on how to control our emotions.

2. Why do you think Philosophers, psychologist and even scientist wanted to know the real
meaning of the self?
- Self is an individual’s typical character or behavior and the union of elements such as body
emotions, thoughts, and sensations that constitute the individuality and identity of a person
that’s why philosophers, psychologist and even scientist wanted to know the real meaning
of the self.
