Question: What change do you think has most improved the world in the last 100 years, and

why?

Response

The world is running out of time on its shelf life, they say, human beings are turning their
backs on each other and global resources are becoming depleted. But let us not forget that
every coin has two sides, the changes our world is encountering are multifaceted, the bad
changes come with the good ones, too. From my perspective, for the last 100 years, the most
significant feat making the world a better place is the rise in propagating and demonstrating.

In reality, propagating and demonstrating have always stood side by side, amongst the things
not worth caring to many people’s eyes. However, my essay will refute the belief that these
two actions are just “words of mouth” because to many’s astonishment, propagating and
demonstrating have introduced actual reasonable alternatives and passively played a role in
the shaping and moulding of a future generation.

Promulgating and disseminating ideas improve the world in two direct ways. First of all, they
impact our overall perception, guarantee basic rights and better our societies. At the
beginning of the 20th century, humans accepted what was in it for them. With Asian
households this was most clearly reflected in arranged marriages, with Westerners, this lay in
the content of wealth or the approving attitude to destitution. People felt too small to have
their own voice. But little by little, movements by movements, people started to share
common goals and demonstrated for those goals to be heard. Indeed the 1920s was the mark
for something unprecedented. Following that point was the soar in demonstrations for women
suffrage, the elimination of slavery and the abolition of racial discrimination. The bravery of
few is the initial domino inducing others to follow suit. Sadly, these demonstrations were
mistaken for some forms of cult. But only those with truly pure intentions could survive and
gain popularity and favor from so many people, so this needn’t be something to worry about.
And it is true, because of propagation and demonstration, black men and white men can now
sit in the same dining table as equals, every election season, women can vote for their wished
governer. They also guarantee a better condition of living, with new avenues opened up for
both job and personal fulfillment.

Last but not least, propagating is good for the environment. Speaking of the world is not just
the people residing on the surface but also the greenery and surroundings that nurture the
Earth. Not everyone has the knowledge or time to devote to sustaining the eco-system. That
is when propagating comes in, environmental activists provide us with the sufficient
knowledge and help us retain what little idea it is that we have of the menacing threat that is
global warming. Recently, Greta Thunberg – an environmental activist created a worldwide
wave for her speeches about the urgency of now. She said in one interview that the point of a
school strike was that “If you adults don't care about my future, neither do I.” These kinds of
actions make me feel hopeful that maybe there is hope for the world after all. This influence
inspired people to care more and if future generations of governers share just one bit of her
urge, the path to the future may very well be clearer.

All in all, propagating and demonstrating are the key elements for a well-balanced world and
evenly-distributed resources. Like I said earlier, all that is needed is one domino. If one mind
is capable of motivating others, seven billion minds must be enough to change the course of
history.
