Applying Deming’s 14 Points in Learning Performance

Applying Deming’s 14 points in learning performance will help the students to improve
themselves. Examples are Point 5: Improve Every Process, Point 8: Drive out Fear, and Point 9: Break
Down Barriers.

          In point 5, the students will be able to improve their learning if they also improve their process of
learning. For example, before the students only learn through books but now that we already have
modern technology we can now learn through the internet. The students should also improve their
process of learning by using technology since almost everything are already in it. Point 8 and 9, by
removing fears and breaking down barriers of the students towards the teachers it will greatly improve
their learning performance. Because when a student has fear towards his/her teacher he/she wouldn’t
be able to learn anything because he/she wouldn’t be able to concentrate during class discussions. That
is why it is important to drive out the fear of the students for them to learn. Also, breaking down
barriers between students and teachers will help the students to talk to their teachers whenever they
are something that they didn’t understand during the class discussions.

This shows that Deming’s 14 points can also help to improve the learning performance of a student
and not just about business.

Applying Deming’s 14 Points in School Performance

Applying Deming’s 14 points in school performance will help the students to improve themselves.
Examples are Point 1: Constancy of Purpose, Point 2: The New Philosophy, and Point 3: Cease
Dependence on Mass Inspection.

In point 1, having a purpose can help the students to motivate themselves to work and study hard.
For example, your purpose in studying is to be able to graduate and find a stable job to help your family.
This purpose will push you to study hard so that you will be able to help your family in the future. Point
2, by adapting to the new changes the students will be able to push through obstacles that may come
within these changes. For example, today because of the pandemic we wouldn’t be able to study in our
school but instead, we are doing it online. Adapting to this new learning environment will easily help the
students in their school performance. Point 3, the teachers shouldn’t always be walking around the
room checking the things that his/her students are doing whenever he/she told them to do something
because it may affect the students in what they are doing. For example, when a teacher told them to
draw something and he/she keeps on checking on the students the students may become anxious
because they might think that there is something wrong with what they are doing. So it is important to
cease independence on the inspection so that the students will be able to improve themselves.

This shows that Deming’s 14 points can also help to improve the school performance of a student
and not just about business.
