What grade do I deserve? I deserve a grade of 85. I shall provide the
answer to this question at the end of this essay. Truth be told, I aspire to be a CPA Lawyer/Attorney, because, other than it is my dream to be a CPA, I want to fight for the rights of the people. I never really had a direction in life because I was ignorant with how things worked. Having a course as demanding and jealous as accountancy, having a quota course requiring 80 on my majors, it's quite a juggle with the other aspects of my life. But that is my responsibility. I AAH_L2_M5_MILL should be accountable for what I do. I chose this course, so I should have the self-respect and the integrity to finish what I started. Accountants and lawyers need not to be absolutely intelligent, they just need to be responsible and should be able to take accountability for their actions. In recent years, more or less it is safe to say that the country is improving, but at a very slow pace. The pace could be increased if only the people whom we voted as leaders were to actually serve the public and do their mandated duty that is to protect the people and the constitution. The lack of integrity among such people in power motivates me to be someone who is yearning for change. I want to be able to help people; I would want to employ utilitarianism. I want the greatest good. I want to fight for the rights of the people. It is quite disheartening to be in an environment where justice itself cannot be practiced. We have these prominent criminals and personalities which are not being put to jail due to their status, influence, name, or whatnot. It is preferable to live in a society where such factors do not affect the severity of imposed punishments. Basically, they broke the law in some way or manner, then they should be liable and accountable and should serve the punishment. I admit I am not the brightest person, but that is not an excuse to be able to make a change. If that is my case, then I should have the integrity to change myself for the better. Having law as a subject is quite challenging. There is so much to learn, but there is little to practice on. There is a need to individually enforce such laws, because it is the right thing to do. People take the law for granted, and complain when caught, and speak that they are ignorant of the law. Unfortunately, that is not excusable. The Philippines needs to improve itself in every sector in order to be able to accommodate each Filipino's needs. The Philippines is a country which has a huge poverty sector and not much is being changed, the people should strive for justice. I want to be able to help with that, I'm not the smartest in the room, but I want to make up for that by actually doing my duty in my profession. We lack justice in the country that is why we are currently as such. We allow criminals to walk freely while prosecuting the innocent. I deserve a grade of 85 because other than it is above the quota, I want to be able to finish my course and continue on to law as steadfast as I can. The more time hopefuls stay in an environment, the less chances of actually making a drastic change in a nation through the fighting for what is right and what is wrong. Many choose to be apolitical, which for me, shouldn’t be the case. Problems arise from negligence, yet it doesn’t get disseminated if people don’t talk about it. Same goes with politics, how can problems be solved if people choose to turn a blind eye and not give any justice or any though to a situation which could potentially affect them maybe not now, but in the long run. Yet, people choose to be loud when it concerns themselves and their interests. People should be open to such criticisms and contradictory ideas because that is where solutions usually stem from. If people were to always keep a close mind, then ideas wouldn’t be as openly accepted and not be efficiently fought for. There would be more clashes of ideas in turn would lead to even more conflict. Too much of it, in that case, would only cause chaos and would become and inconvenience to most. I eventually want to pursue law because I want to become a voice for change of the people, by the people, and of the people. Through thorough judgment and decisiveness, change can be made. People want change yet they do almost nothing to attain it. It should also be a habit to analyze and understand where the need for change is stemming from. Thing is, there are many opinions on certain matters, but nobody ever asks why are there two sides instead of one. The common action is to assume that the other side is uneducated which is in itself, a fallacy, since we cannot solely judge a person based on the surface. There are reasons as to why people act as such. Much like in law practice, there are numerous factors as to the how’s and why’s of a person. I stem from the want and the need to dish out justice to those who need it. It is not of my concern if there are any negatives to it, it is a profession I am pursuing, there will be no one that will be above the law, if there are hindrances to the enforcing or legislation of such law, then we will get to it, and find out the stem of the problems. With God, I know he will guide me and not lead me to foolish actions to make me waste this life of mine. I chose 85 because I know that my profession needs not absolute intelligence, but it needs responsibility and accountability for any action.
