Hasik Personal Leadership Development Program 2009-2010

To sow the seeds in the Filipino language is hasik or paghasik. The word is also used in a more generic
manner referring to the action of spreading happiness, goodwill, and the like. The Hasik Personal Leadership
Development Program seeks to use the principle of paghahasik to spread leadership skills to lowerclassmen and
enable them to use these skills in their personal lives. The program hopes that when young leaders experience
everyday personal leadership they will be able to lead others in the future.

Thus, Hasik relies on these specific objectives:

o To equip the lowerclassmen with skills in leadership that they will be able to apply such to their personal
lives
o To be able to practice leadership everyday
o To expose the lowerclassmen to the current situation and trends in leadership
o To encourage the lowerclassmen to transcend themselves and lead others through various opportunities
in school in the future

PROGRAM OUTLINE
Reinforcement of Personal Goal Setting
What do I want to accomplish in my life? What do I really want to do? Articulating the personal goals and being
aware about such from the start sets the personal direction. Everyday acts thus lead toward the
accomplishments of the goals.

Personal Motivation
Why am I not in the mood to achieve? Why do I easily quit when tough times come? The topic tackles the
different levels of motivations of persons and discusses the several efforts to push oneself into output and
towards a direction.

Interpersonal Communication
How do I talk to my superiors (teachers, administrators, parents)? Does that differ in how I talk to my friends,
classmates or girl/boyfriend? Taking responsibility on how the message is conveyed and received is also of
importance as the message being sent. Communication with peers affects the relationships being managed.

Creative Problem Solving

Why can’t seem to solve my problems? Why do I have difficulties determining solutions? The topic encourages
the participant to be creative in dealing with roadblocks in aspects of life, may it be academic, personal or social
life.
PROGRAM OUTPUT
The participant is provided with a reflection journal that is supposed to be filled by the end of the session.
