Phone: 1-(860)-489-4137 Pastor: Rev. Daniel Bossidy February 2011 Dear Friend, Greetings to you once again from everyone at the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church in Torrington, CT. There is a beautiful verse of Scripture in Psalms 16:5 that says, “The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: Thou maintainest my lot.” Sometimes when we are going through trials and struggles we forget that the Lord has a plan for our lives and has given us a lifetime to fulfill it. However long or short that time period is, as we look to Him we realize He is everything to us. He is our strength when we are weak, He is our joy when we are saddened, and He is our voice when we can say no more: yes, Jesus is everything to us! Many people ask what their lot in life is. I have found by studying the Word of God that the greatest component to our lot is the immense love of God towards us all. We tend to forget about that in the face of trials and set- backs. But we must understand that God loves our world with an everlasting love. Problems come when people turn away from His love. When I recognize His love in everything I go through I come to know that He will never leave me nor forsake me! He will be there through thick and thin. There will be answers to all my questions as I trust Him with my life. I may not always understand the answer but His ways are always the best for me and everyone around me. God must really be our friend because He gave His only begotten Son to die for our sins. Many people either don’t realize this or have never even heard this. My lot in life is not perfect, but His love is! My sins, which were many, are forgiven because He loves me! It’s as simple as that. Jesus said, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you” (John 15: 13 & 14). He said these words a few days before He would go to Calvary’s cross for our sins. These words had much meaning to Him because He was about to fulfill them. But He loved us enough to lay down His life for us. Neither the Jews nor the Romans took His life from Him: He laid down His life freely for us all that we all might make heaven our home. This great love transcends time and space. It is at work even now, in 2011! A lady in our church had a desire to give out poinsettias after Christmas this year. We made arrangements with a local garden shop and were able to get 8 plants (that was all they had left because it was New Years day). Before we went out we prayed that the Lord would direct us to “the one:” that person who needed to know that the Lord loved them. We passed them out by faith and love and believed God that someone would be touched by this little act of kindness. Well, lo and behold, a few weeks later on a Sunday morning we had a visitor at church who told us after our service that she was broken-hearted and didn’t know where to go or what to do. She thought God had forsaken her because she lost her fiancé to cancer. But someone from our church gave her a poinsettia and it made a difference. She was in the valley of the shadow of death but like David of old, found that the Lord actually was with her all that time! Her desolate wilderness and valley of trouble turned into a door of hope because Jesus was in that valley with her. What are you facing today? Have you lost your way and feel alone? Have you prayed and didn’t seem to get an answer? Jesus is walking in that dark valley with you and He does hear every prayer. He does love you. He gave Himself for each of us. Turn to Him today and open your heart. Ask Him to forgive you of all your sins and invite Him into your life. You will find His peace passes all understanding and your lot of bareness will turn into a fruitful land! May God bless you today and always! If you don’t have a church I invite you to ours. We are the Full Gospel Lighthouse Church, located at 624 Torringford West Street in Torrington, CT. Our schedule of services is Sunday t 10 AM and 7 PM and Wednesday at 7:30 PM. Come and let the Word of God strengthen your faith so you can know Him who gave His life for you! Until next month, may God be with you! Sincerely,
Rev. Daniel Bossidy
