• Pomeroy technique - use absorbable suture to tie the base of a loop of

tube near the mid-portion and cutting off the top of the loop. Destroys
3-4cm of tube, making reversal more difficult
• Modified Pomeroy procedure (separating a small segment of tube
from the mesosalpinx, tying each end of the segment and removing the
portion between the sutures) rather than Filshie clip may be preferable
for post-partum sterilisation performed at C/S or by mini-laparotomy -
lower failure rates
