(1) How the pandemic has affected you personally on one hand, and the people in your

organization (place of work) on the other hand; and

Personally, a lot of things have changed since the global pandemic ramp up. The crisis
affected my life personally and professionally. Living around COVID-19 has been very
challenging in a lot of ways. It has disrupted my daily life significantly. I have been at home and
office (vice versa) upon the enhanced community quarantine has been lifted. I do work remotely
twice a week which I never did prior pandemic.
I have not been able to hang out with my siblings and other family members like the way
we usually do like going out for a lunch or going for an out of town trip to freshen up.
Many things have changed because there’s a sense of fear. I don’t go out unless we buy
something. Most of the time I feel like being outside isn’t safe at all.
Even though there is so much uncertainty and change to deal with, I try to keep myself
motivated and engaged. I watch the news only occasionally to keep my mind off the current
situation. Instead I listen to music and read books to take care of my body and mind.
On the other hand, as to the people in my organization, I believe everyone had the same
experience and do have their own stories to tell. Everyone is adjusting to the new normal, be it in
their personal and professional life as well.
Currently, I feel that this global situation is also giving me and everyone in the
organization a chance to rethink and reflect on a lot of things in our lives and to also rethink our
priorities as people in general.

(2) Share your thoughts on what might emerge as the new normal in the management of
the human resource in your organization.
As we experienced the global pandemic, human resource management will dramatically
change most of the Organization’s policies and procedures since most of organizations needs to
keep their workers more productive, motivated, engaged, and connected and all other factors that
are moving targets in the new normal.
Though many organizations accepted that traditional way of working may never return to
what we used to do as before, some organization may have changes as the new normal emerges.
 Meetings, trainings, workshops, and the like will continue to be delivered virtually using
various digital platforms. This is to adhere to the mandated government requirement to
maintain the minimum health standard.
 Team buildings, physical interactions, spontaneous conversations, and other employee
engagement activities may no longer be done until a widely accessible COVID-19
vaccine is tested and proven safe for all.
 Increase percentage in attrition, as some employees may not yet be ready to return for
work since there is a fear of getting infected by the virus.
 The flexible working arrangement or work from home will be the new normal in some of
the organizations.
No business is immune to this massive change. Everyone in the human resource was in the
same boat because everything is new to us. This will be a hard lesson for everyone to learn but as
human resource creates new policies aligned to the new normal; HR will help businesses to have
a better organization as we will gain a sense of balance by meeting employee’s needs and
company’s needs at the same time.
