THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK
The world of technology advances by leaps and bounds, so much so that it
is correct to say that a PC made yesterday is obsolete, is why it is so
important update in this area.

This manual will provide a better service to all staff, in addition to being
able to offer good training, as well as preventive maintenance to interpret
the best solutions and problems of the PC `S originating from the different
components that exist in them.

If there is no proper preventive maintenance of computer equipment is

possible that these behaviors begin to be irritable and unstable becoming
more likely to suffer long term damage.

PC preventive maintenance done regularly can help extend the life of a PC

than to keep operating properly for longer periods of time, avoiding a PC
repair which is more expensive.

For this reason, this manual you will find computer maintenance
procedures for proper preventive maintenance for computers and their
components.

"WITH TECHNOLOGY DESIGNED FOR EVEN BEING IN THIS LIFE YOU

FEEL MORE ADELANTE.GRACIAS VA MAY SHOW THEIR INNOVATIONS
TODAY AND NOW IS THE FUTURE ...."

GENERAL PURPOSE
Perform a manual as a reference for implementing preventive
maintenance courses PC `S, which allows training of theoretical and
practical way to staff as required.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
Knowing the architecture of computer equipment.
Differentiate existing hardware configurations.
Know and use tools and materials used in the support area for
preventive maintenance.
Learning to perform maintenance of PC `S by the sequence of
specific steps.

3
GOALS
Our main goal is to enable the user to find quick solutions to their
problems with the PC `s.
The maintenance process is suitable and completed in full
successfully.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
REQUIREMENTS.
a. Machinery and equipment included.

1. Flathead screwdriver and Philips (or cross)

These screwdrivers are used to remove the screws holding the outer set that
covers and protects the CPU (Cabinet) within the CPU there are some
components that needs to be extracted with the help of a screwdriver.

2. Wrist strap

As is well known by those who are knowledgeable about computer

hardware maintenance, know that it is necessary to discharge the static
electricity before touching any internal part of the CPU, either: a chip, a
microprocessor or a card, since they are very delicate and sensitive to
physical damage.

The wristband works as follows: Apparently it is a ordinary bracelet, which is

made of a material that conducts electricity and has a small metal that
makes contact with the skin of the hand that grabs once you connected a
cable that spiral about 80 cm which is connected to earth ground socket or
chassis of the PC.

4
3. Nose pliers

Commonly used to remove the jumper from the hard disks or CD-ROM
when there was the need to configure the computer can recognize.

4. ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL

Within the computer is the most important liquid for cleaning card
equipment (computers, printers, monitors, etc..) Is a compound which dries
too quickly which helps make a more efficient job.

Is an alcohol that removes the fat with ease by which offers a great security
to Introduction.

5. Blower

This will help us to blow the dust that is difficult to make slots and other
small parts.

Frotex Cream

This substance allows us to better clean the frame of our computer.

5
Brush

It is very useful for cleaning a dusty pieces q

Tweezers

These help to have a better range of small parts that tend to fall

They are also very useful for cutting wire

Bayetilla

Used to clean the chassis and several parts of our computer

6
Draft

This is done to remove dirt and sulfation that contacts are made in the
reports.

AREA OF OPERATION TO INCLUDE.

We define our area of operation to workplace: what is important for the
proper conduct of maintenance, is to find a clear area, free of food with
proper signage and in a place free from noise or anything that might
disrupt the work.

PLANNING FOR THE

IMPLEMENTATION OF
MAINTENANCE.
1. First of all we must enter our computer's BIOS and check that it is
operating.

2. Following this we turn off our computer.

Following instructions before using the following steps

Perform all cleaning tasks on a well-lit table.

Never use a vacuum cleaner to clean the case, because we might

accidentally suck small items such as jumpers or connectors.

Once you've unplugged and before putting his hand to anything,

touch the metal part of it at least 15 sec. This is to prevent static
electricity damage your any components when handling it.

7
Look closely at how things are and where you work or are going to
disarm cable or unplugging. Disassemble and disconnect only those
components that you can put back into its original position.

Almost all the components fit one way but not always the case. Ojo!
When you disconnect or connect any piece does not use brute force
and that everything is made to fit perfectly if you need it, you could
break it or bend it. Definitely do not force it if it comes.

Try not to touch too chips grips parts because you could burn them
or damaging them.

If after cleaning does not work, do not despair and then reconnecting
everything and reconnect it, you might have been something wrong
connected.

3. Once our computer is off, proceed to disconnect the outer parts of

our computer such as the power source PS2 ports (where you connect
the mouse and keyboard), USB ports, and cable from the monitor.

4. Once we find q external cables disconnected proceed to remove the

side cover of our chassis with a Phillips screwdriver, do not excessive
force to remove the top of the central unit. Make an analysis of how
it is adjusted in such a way as not to run risks of damage on any item.

You arrange the parts as to be des amblando and be careful with

the screws.

5. The next thing arem will disconnect power to the moderthboard and
other components and got from the tower and we will clean this.

Cleaning the power supply is very simple and if we have a blow job
will be shortened to less than 2 minutes. Basically you have to do is
clean the supply fan with a brush, clean all components with the
brush and the blower.

6. When we disconnected the power supply and may have made their
respective cleaning buses proceed to disconnect the data or SATAS
moderthboard and internal devices.

8
7. Now we get reports from their respective socket. removing their safe

We already have the memory in our hands and we will clean the
contacts with the eraser. This is done to remove dirt and sulfation
that form on the contacts of this component.
Once that is done, clean up the excess rubber with a brush trying not
to touch or bend long the memory chips as it could get damage. And
leave the memories in an antistatic bag.

8. Then clean all expansion cards such as network cards, sound, modem,
video or anything else connected to an expansion slot. We must
remove the card and clean the contacts with the eraser as we did
with the memory cleaning up after a brush with the remains.

9. Now remove the sink q protects the processor to make cleaning your
fan must take great care when removing to avoid damaging their
insurance as they are very difficult to get replacement must also
remove the processor and put it in an antistatic bag, trying not to
touch their logical parts to avoid damage.

10. We will continue with input devices and storage, which is removed
arem with a Phillips screwdriver, try not to hit and left in a safe place.
remember that the CD ROM, floppy is removed out of the chassis
while the hard drives are removed from the inside of the chassis.

And the clean up if they need it

11. Once found and removed all cables, cards. heatsinks and
motherboard devices that will be cleaned with a brush to remove
dust carefully to do no harm to it.

12. The next thing we will do is to reconnect everything.

13. When connected everything within our frame what we do is clean
the outside with cold cream also can be cleaned with soap it is

9
important to remove dust and give a better appearance and dry
with the dry bayetilla. And finally, what we do is to plug our
computer correctly, connect the rear and proceed to turn it on and
check operation.

BACK UP PLAN
It is recommended before starting the maintenance, development of
a back up in a more specific definition is: keep all important files in a
folder, to avoid running the risk of users losing vital information.

Software maintenance procedures

To make a good blanketing the software is necessary to follow the

following rules:

Always have updated antivirus

Check that all devices are working properly
Disk Cleanup
Cleaning and maintenance of Internet Explorer
Clean Windows Startup
Virus Removal
Maintaining and cleaning the Windows registry

11
Defragmentation of the hard disk

Always have updated antivirus

Having an antivirus is essential if we are connected to the Internet, a good

antivirus is not too expensive, is available to most users, and all antivirus is
updated regularly and automatically without us having to do anything
anyway if not have the money to buy an antivirus you can use the online
antivirus.

Check that all devices are working properly

It is very important to check that all the devices you have installed on your
PC or computer running smoothly and that does not conflict with the
operating system or other hardware devices, if not very likely that
continually have problems, things not work, blue screens, unexpected
reboots, programs not running, and much more.

Disk Cleanup

It is very important to have the hard drive clean of trash and old files you
no longer use our computer, so fundamental is regularly free space on your
hard disk, deleting unnecessary files, temporary, etc.

Cleaning and maintenance of Internet Explorer

To clean the Internet Explorer the process is very simple, just open the
Explorer select Tools and then Internet Options select the General tab here
we will find several options, we execute are:

- Delete Cookies
- Delete Files
- Clear History

Cleaning and Windows startup configuration

If we consider that a computer works similarly to a car is obvious that when

starting the vehicle, this function will be easier, the fewer elements have to
load at startup. Imagine starting the vehicle with the lights on, radio
playing, the windows running, clean work, with all this work to be
performed by the battery or motor vehicle is higher than if we put in males
without these elements are functioning . Well, something similar happens in

12
Windows, sometimes when we start the computer has to start or run so
many things that it takes a long time, it becomes slow and unstable.

Virus Removal

On many occasions when we are sailing, we are forced to download

spyware and cookies to access the web site content. Many of those files
though seemingly innocent, are doing that we left traces of our online
activities, so it is advisable to clean your PC or computer regularly for all this
crap computer.

Maintaining and cleaning the

Windows registry
Every time you install, uninstall a program, modify something in the
configuration of your PC you create a key in the Windows Registry, over
time this record is full of invalid keys, old programs and settings that are
good for nothing, just to hinder the operation of the computer, so it is highly
advisable that regularly do a registry clean to remove all the invalid or
useless keys, that all they do is clog and cause errors.

Defragmentation of the hard disk

Computers and other machines need regular tuning, one of the tools that
Windows provides us with the hard disk defragmentation, Our hard disk is
formed by cluster, small sections on the hard disk where the information will
be saved, We daily work installing and uninstalling other programs that you
no longer use or have become irrelevant, which we leave empty cluster,
when you install a program that searches the hard disk sectors which are
empty, what usually happens is that the program is installed on the first to
find and if everything fits in a sector or cluster, install the other files in
another, which have a program associated with files scattered across your
hard drive. With defragmentation what we get is to reunite or merge all
files for a program in the same sector, this will save mistakes and make your
computer faster.

Performance Test

The performance test is carried dare PERFORMANCE TEST program

is installed on the computer and serves ara determine the
performance of the PC. This is recommended to do so on two
occasions, prior to software maintenance, and then again after you
have made This software maintenance in order to determine which
state was the PC and see if the yield is higher after making software.

DISARMAMENT AND ASSEMBLY

OF THE EQUIPMENT.
Each professional and governed by rules, but regardless of these rules each
work as you see fit but here are some tips you damo when performing
maintenance.

16
DISASSEMBLY AND ASSEMBLY
TECHNIQUES OF COMPUTER:
enlisting the workplace
to enlist the machine that will do the maintenance.
enlist the tools.
leave the unit off resting for 1 hour before at least.
remove the units.
clean the body.
reassembling the machine.
machine check to determine that all components are working
properly.

SOFTWARE INSTALLATION:
The installation of computer programs (software) is the process by which
new programs are transferred to a computer and, possibly, set to be used
for the purpose for which they were developed. A program goes through
different stages of development during its lifetime:

1. Development: Every programmer needs the program installed, but

with the tools, source codes, databases and so on., To modify the
program.
2. Proof: Before delivery to the user, the software must be tested. This is
done in case of complex software in a facility ad hoc .
3. Production: For use by the end user.

In each of these phases of the installation with different objectives.

One must understand that in Castilian program serves to indicate both a

script or executable file, such as tar , as a set of files that serve a common
purpose, such as OpenOffice.org . So we will use the neologism software
computer programs .

FINAL PERFORMANCE TEST

It means using performance test program again to determine the machine
performance is acquired in May when the maintenance began.

the keyboard to load Windows. Many system administrators disable
the keyboard in MS-DOS.SYS file.

· Check the keyboard cable to one millimeter If you open one of its
internal cable, the cable should be replaced completely by another of
the same model or repair the damaged but aesthetics. EYE. Never
place other than cable because it might burn the keyboard and its
port on the motherboard when you connect.

· Test your keyboard to another computer. If no response, replace

with new.

The computer is slow and fails.
