Happiness is the state of joy, peace, and tranquility in life; to be happy in life, we must have
goals and purpose in our life. The good memories from the past and hope for the future are very
important for our happiness. To motivate ourselves, we all need goals and some achievable
challenges in life that excite us. It is important to dream about the achievable wishes in life, have
realistic and ambitious goals that will bring a sense of success and satisfaction in our life if we
dream of unachievable goals, this will give us unnecessary stress and disappointment in life.
Happiness does not come directly into our lives; happiness comes from thinking, scheduling, and
pursuing all the things that are important to us. It is said that if a person is setting a goal and
working to achieve it, the goal will contribute to happiness in life. I have made a list of long
wishes and goals that make me happy. My goal is to get a post-doctoral degree. I believe that
achieving this goal will be a source of happiness for my parents and me. Seeing my parents
Other than this goal, I always put down everything in my dairy, no matter how big or small it is,
I know its going to give me happiness by noting down the events and plans in my to do list. I
mostly try to create my own happiness by doing the activities which are good for my physical
and mental health. In the evening, I often play football or go for a walk; this gives me happiness.
When I’m at home, I clean my room, arrange my study table, organized my cupboard; all these
activities give me happiness. Nature gives me pleasure and happiness; whenever I go out, I enjoy

the beautiful rocks, the unusual shapes in the clouds, soaking in the rain, and staring at the stars
and moon keeps me happy. After a tiresome day at school, I often watch TV shows or enjoy
listening to music. Sometimes I read and reread some course books, novels, and storybooks.
Things like this are simple, but they bring me extraordinary happiness. Some days I feel stressed,
I look at my to-do list, I start experimenting with new healthy recipes at my kitchen, eating
healthy food gives me happiness. Goals in life can be long term, short term, or day to day goals.
The long-term goals are for a successful career or a life goal. The short-term goal is planned for
the near future, maybe for next month or next week or year. My short term goal is now to sign up
for yoga class, which will help me to feel stronger and more confident in myself. I have planned
for the weekend to attend an event where I will meet my family and friends who matters in my
School is also one of my happy places, where I regularly go to attend my lecture, which
stimulates my mind and wake up my imagination, creativity and intellectual abilities. In the
festivals in school the music, art, singing and dancing makes me happy. My life became so full
of these happy moments that I no longer had a bad mood at all. I’m too busy enjoying the good
things. I began living my life to the fullest and loving every second of it.

Explain Eudemonic happiness and Hedonic happiness and give some examples
Eudemonic happiness is an approach which focuses on the meaning and self-realization and
defines well being. Eudemonic happiness contributes to the overall well-being of a person in
many different ways. The eudemonic approach of happiness, personal goals, objectives and
focus in life matters and gives the person happiness and pleasure. Eudemonic happiness is more
fulfilling in the long term. In this happiness, a person can pursue the meaning and value of things
in life, which will produce a feeling of happiness, pleasure and motivates the person to focus on
the goal and mission of life. The best example of Eudemonic happiness from our daily life is a
person who is working with any non-profit organization as a volunteer; his job is to help others,
which improves the well being of the community and person. The pursuit of knowledge is also
In Hedonic happiness, there are delight and enjoyment, which means the person is regarding
pleasure and enjoyment as a chief goal in life. Hedonic happiness exists in the lower half of
Maslow’s pyramid, where food, shelter, and sex reside. In the search for happiness and pleasure,
many of us have heard as a guiding life motto or motivation for behavior. Hedonic happiness
focuses on feeling-good, seeking out experiences that provide us with positive sensations.
Hedonic happiness gives a person pleasure, enjoyment, and satisfaction of physical senses and
psychological state. Hedonic adaptation is most likely to occur when a person is engaged in
fleeting pleasures. This kind of enjoyment can improve mood, but this is only temporary. One
way to struggle a return to your happiness set point is to engage in more eudemonic activities.
Meaningful activities like engaging in hobbies require greater thought and effort than hedonic
