In 1974 when he was in class eight, his father died. His father was a day laborer who worked on
another people’s land. Among three brothers and one sister he was elder one. He lost his father
Abdul Mazid Molla untreated. Due to extreme poverty, his father did not get any medical
attention and died at an early age. The family shattered under pressure of extreme poverty after
his father’s death. The headmaster of the school once called Kadir Molla back to school and
provided a lodging in a family on condition that he would teach the younger children of the
family. He arranged some private tuitions for Abdul Kadir Molla to meet expense of educational
materials and other living expenses. The owner of his lodging had a small business of cloths.
Kadir molla helped him in his business. As he was unable to collect the money for the form fill
up for the Dakhil test, he couldn’t attend the final exam. So, he decided to leave the school and
go to Dhaka and run the rikshaw. Then he got on the bus to Dhaka but because of no money he
was dropped from the bus. There he met some workers then he joined them in the work. This
was the first earning of his life. Again, he left for Dhaka with this money. But accidently he got
on another train and he came down to madangonj. He spent the night at the station. The next
morning, he went to a shop and took a newspaper and find an advertisement of marine
technology. There he saw that the admitted student will get 10 tk per month. It was a three years
technical course. He was admitted there. After the completion of two years there, he was called
for a ship yard job in Singapore.
He returned to the country after working for 5 years. After returning home, he took a job in Titas
Gas Company. There he worked for 8 to 9 years as well as doing a small business. During his 9
years of his career, he was transferred 11 times, because he was not associated with any politics.
Finally, he left the job and concentrated on business.
At the beginning of the business some people give him motivation. From APEX Group they
were Dr. Zahur, Harun and Ikbal Hassan Tuku. They advised him to start a textile business. They
assured to help him to market his product. In 1996 he first applied for bank loan to Agrani Bank
but failed. Finally, he got loan from Sonali bank. Since he was a new entrepreneur and he had
technical knowledge so Sonali Bank’s director Ibrahim Khalid gave him loan. He started his first
textile business with this loan. Mr Zahur of APEX Group managed him buyer.
According to him the buyer preferred three things –
1. Quality full product
2. On time shipment
3. Commitment.
