DAILY LESSON PLAN YEAR 4

ANIMALS REPRODUCE

Date : 03 March 2010 (Wednesday)

Time : 8.20 – 8.50 am (30 minutes)
Class : Year 4 Amanah
Number of pupils : 25 pupils
Theme : Investigating Living Things
Topic : Living Things Undergo Life Processes.
Learning Objective : Analysing the life processes that animals undergo.
Learning Outcomes : At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1. state that animals reproduce.
2. state that some animals give birth some animals lays
egg.
3. classify animals according to the way they reproduce.

Pre-requisite knowledge: Students knows and seen about animals and their young in real
life and television.

Scientific skills/thinking skills: comparing, analyzing, making conclusion, communicating,

classifying.

Scientific attitudes and values: Appreciating the balance of nature and having an interest
and curiosity towards the environment.

Teaching and learning resources: Picture A 08, B 08, C 08, D 08 & E 08, words sticker of
animals name, worksheet WS 08.

• Reproduce-any of various
processes, either sexual or
asexual, by which an animals
produce one or more
individuals similar to itself.
• Offspring –a child of
particular parentage.
Eliciting ideas • Animals reproduce to:
(6 mins) (i) ensure the survival of
their species
(ii) increase the number of
animals
(iii) maintain the balance of
nature
• Based on animals way of
reproduction, we can divide
animals into two groups :
(i) Animals that give birth
(ii) Animals that lay eggs
Animals that give birth:
Restructuring • Animals that gives birth such
ideas as lions, cows, whales and
(6 mins) dolphins give birth to their
young.
• The young grow in their
mother’s womb until they are
born. After birth, the young
feed on their mother’s milk.
Animals that lay eggs:
• Animals such as birth, frogs,
crocodiles and grasshopper lay
eggs after few days and
weeks.
• Some lay a lot of eggs such as
fish and frogs and some just
lay few eggs such as duck.
• Some take care of their eggs
such as chicken and bird that
