II. SUMMARY

There were concerns that needed to be investigated towards the clinical staffs. Their perceptions on
current monitoring practices and on their planned introduction on continuous monitoring devices which had flags
raised for concerns on accuracy. The study aimed to improve, by listening to staff insights, and how they will be
able to improve their current nursing practices & patient care which will help in the lessening of risk towards
patients who could have deterioration at some point during monitoring of vital signs.

III. NURSING IMPLICATIONS

A. To Nursing Practice

Personally, this journal has been very focused on improving their attitudes and practices in the general ward. I
can say this journal can contribute to the current nursing practices by means of this informative data that they
have given, to show how honest and accurate the data’s they collected were. It also gave pointers and triggering
thoughts that we future nurses could ask ourselves and it makes us think more on how we could improve
ourselves to become a responsible nurse/s in the ward while using technologies and what not.

B. To Nursing Education

I believe this journal is relevant enough to discuss around clients, to other health care professionals, nursing
students etc. Because their data and information conceive evident evidence that is enough for us to understand
and consider to educate ourselves so that we can comprehend and lessen unwanted incidents on patients and in
our wards

C. To Nursing Research

The research that has been done only had nurses that predominantly participated and 2 doctors, which
limits the ability to infer the perspectives of doctors. I suggest that they collect data from all nurses and
doctors so that their readings and findings would be more accurate and complete.

IV. PERSONAL INSIGHTS

I agree with this journal because it opens up the topic of detection of patient deterioration and how nurses and
doctors can improve themselves in the wards, most especially when taking vitals signs accurately even when
using technological devices and how to provide the optimal nursing care towards the patients while we reflect on
how we could improve our nursing practices for the betterment of all.
