Vorbemerkung
Die nach Richtlinie VDI 6022 Blatt 1 durchzuführen-
den Maßnahmen erfordern eine gezielte Schulung
des damit betrauten Personals. Das hier vorgelegte
Blatt dient der Qualitätssicherung dieser Maßnah-
men, indem
• Anforderungen an die mit diesen Schulungen be-
trauten Referenten gestellt werden
• die Schulungsinhalte konkret dargelegt werden
• Rahmenbedingungen für den Ablauf der Schulung
vorgegeben werden
• die Prüfungsbedingungen festgelegt werden
Allen ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern an der Richtlinie
VDI 6022 Blatt 2 sei auf diesem Wege gedankt.

1 Geltungsbereich
Die Richtlinie gilt für die Hygieneschulungen der
Kategorien A und B, die nach VDI 6022 Blatt 1 ge-
fordert werden. Sie enthält Mindestanforderungen an
die Schulungsinhalte und die Qualifikation des Schu-
lungspersonals. Es werden die Rahmenbedingungen
für die Durchführung der Schulungen und die ab-
schließende Prüfung festgelegt.
Die Schulungen der Kategorien A und B sind vonein-
ander unabhängig.
2 Qualifikation des Schulungspersonals
Das Schulungspersonal muß über fachliche Kennt-
nisse auf technischem und/oder hygienisch-mikro-
biologischem Gebiet verfügen.
Für das Schulungspersonal des Bereiches Technik
gilt: Nachweis eines abgeschlossenen Hochschul-
studiums in der Studienrichtung Technische Gebäu-
deausrüstung, Versorgungstechnik oder einer ver-
gleichbaren Studienrichtung.
Für das Schulungspersonal des Bereiches Hygiene/
Mikrobiologie gilt: Nachweis eines abgeschlossenen
Hochschulstudiums in der Studienrichtung Medizin,

Foreword
The measures to be carried in accordance with guide-
line VDI 6022 Part 1 require appropriate training of
the personnel performing those measures. This part
of the VDI serves to establish the quality assurance of
these measures, in that
• requirements are stipulated for experts entrusted
with this training
• the content of the training is presented in a con-
crete fashion
• outline conditions for the course of training are
given
• the examination conditions are specified

1 Scope
This guideline applies to the hygiene training of
categories A and B, required in accordance with
VDI 6022 Part 1. It contains minimum requirements
on the training content and for the qualifications of
the training personnel. The framework conditions for
carrying out the training and the final examination are
stipulated.
The training in categories A and B are independent of
each other.
2 Qualification of training personnel
The training personnel shall have expert knowledge
in the technical and/or hygiene-microbiology field.
Training personnel for the technical field require
proof of having completed university study in the
field of building-specific equipment, public utilities
engineering or a comparable field of study.
Training personnel for hygiene/microbiology require
proof of having completed university study in the
field of medicine, hygiene or microbiology or in a

Fachrichtungen Hygiene oder Mikrobiologie bzw. in
vergleichbaren Studienrichtungen.
Das Schulungspersonal beider Bereiche muß eine
mindestens zweijährige Berufserfahrung im Bereich
der Lüftungs- und Klimatechnik nachweisen.
3 Hygieneschulungen
3.1 Kategorien der Hygieneschulung
Es werden zwei Kategorien von Hygieneschulungen
unterschieden. Die Schulung der Kategorie A (im
folgenden als Schulung A bezeichnet) berechtigt
zur Durchführung anspruchsvoller Hygienetätigkei-
ten an Raumlufttechnischen (RLT) Anlagen und der
Hygieneinspektionen nach VDI 6022 Blatt 1, Ab-
schnitt 3.6, mit Ausnahme der Tätigkeiten, die kraft
Gesetzes durch spezielles Fachpersonal durchgeführt
werden müssen.
Die Schulung der Kategorie B (im folgenden als
Schulung B bezeichnet) ist Voraussetzung für die
Durchführung hygiene- und qualitätsbewußter Maß-
nahmen zur Wartung und Instandsetzung sowie für
einfache Inspektionen.
In Tabelle 1 werden die für die verschiedenen Maß-
nahmen notwendigen Schulungen sowie die erforder-
lichen Vorkenntnisse der Teilnehmer beschrieben.

Eine abgeschlossene Schulung A schließt die Schu-
lung B ein. Somit dürfen alle Tätigkeiten, die eine
Schulung B erfordern, auch von einer Person, die
eine Schulung A erfolgreich abgeschlossen hat,
durchgeführt werden. Umgekehrt ist dies jedoch
nicht zulässig.
3.2 Voraussetzungen zur Durchführung einer
Hygieneschulung
Während der gesamten Schulungsdauer muß Schu-
lungspersonal beider in Abschnitt 2 genannten Berei-
che anwesend sein.
Die Schulungen sind so zu planen, daß bei meßtech-
nischen Unterweisungen eine Arbeitsgruppengröße
von ca. zehn Personen nicht überschritten wird.

3 Hygiene training
3.1 Categories of hygiene training
There are two categories of hygiene training. Train-
ing of category A (referred to in the following as
Training A) provides entitlement to perform more
demanding hygiene tasks on air-conditioning sys-
tems and hygiene inspections in accordance with
VDI 6022 Part 1, Section 3.6, with the exception of
activities which according to law are required to be
carried out by particular specialists.
Training of category B (referred to in the following as
Training B) is a precondition for performing hygiene
and quality conscious tasks for servicing and repair as
well as for simple inspections.
Table 1 gives the training required for the various
tasks and the initial knowledge required by the partic-
ipant.

Training A also covers Training B. This means that
all the activities which require Training B can also be
performed by a person who has successfully com-
pleted Training A. The reverse is, however, not per-
missible.
3.2 Preconditions for participating in
hygiene training
Training personnel of both fields given in Section 2
must be present throughout the complete duration of
the training.
The training is to be planned so that a working group
undergoing metrological training does not consist of
more than approximately ten persons.

Nachfolgend werden die Inhalte der Schulung B the-
menweise dargelegt. Diese Inhalte stellen einen Rah-
men dar, der durch die Referenten entsprechend dem
aktuellen Stand der Technik des jeweiligen Fachge-
bietes auszufüllen ist.

Topic 1: Importance and necessity for hygiene in

Hygiene beim Betrieb von RLT-Anlagen
Unter Berücksichtigung gesundheitlicher, techni-
scher und wirtschaftlicher Gesichtspunkte sind den
Schulungsteilnehmern die hygienischen Anforderun-
gen beim Betrieb von Raumlufttechnischen Anlagen
zu erläutern. Entsprechend dem Stand der Technik ist
ein Überblick über Art und Umfang der durch Raum-
lufttechnische Anlagen bei unzureichender Instand-
haltung bzw. unzureichendem Betrieb auslösbaren
gesundheitlichen Beschwerden zu geben.

The hygiene requirements for the operation of venti-
lation and air-conditioning systems is to be explained
to the trainees in terms of health, technical and eco-
nomic stand points. An overview of the type and ex-
tent of health complaints triggered by air-condition-
ing systems where there is inadequate maintenance or
incorrect operation is to be given.

Ausgehend von den Anforderungen an die Luftquali-
tät im Innenraum sind den Schulungsteilnehmern
grundlegend Aufbau und Funktion von RLT-Anlagen
zu vermitteln. Schwerpunkte aus hygienischer Sicht
bilden die Komponenten Luftfilter, Luftbefeuchter,
Kühler und Wärmerückgewinnungsanlagen. Hier

trainees. From the point of view of hygiene, the im-
portant points are components such as air filters, air
humidifiers, coolers and heat recovery systems. The

sind zusätzlich die entsprechenden chemischen und
mikrobiologischen Zusammenhänge zu erläutern.
Unterstützend sollen die Problemfelder von RLT-An-
lagen demonstriert werden.
Thema 3: Wartung von RLT-Anlagen
Die Notwendigkeit und Durchführung gezielter War-
tungsarbeiten an RLT-Anlagen werden anhand der
Checkliste der Richtlinie VDI 6022 Blatt 1 erläutert.
Besonderer Schwerpunkt wird auf die Hygienetätig-
keiten bei der Wartung gelegt. Die Teilnehmer sind
über persönliche Schutzmaßnahmen bei der Durch-
führung von Instandhaltungsmaßnahmen und im
Umgang mit chemischen Reinigungs- und Desinfek-
tionsmitteln zu unterrichten.
Thema 4: Meßverfahren zur Überwachung von
RLT-Anlagen
Teil 1 – Physikalische Messungen
Den Schulungsteilnehmern sind die grundlegenden
Meßverfahren der Klimatechnik zu erläutern.
Schwerpunkte bilden hierbei die Meßverfahren zur
Druck-, Temperatur- und Feuchtigkeitsmessung. Die
mit diesen Verfahren erzielbaren Genauigkeiten, die
notwendige Positionierung des Meßfühlers und ge-
eignete Meßorte sind darzustellen. Eine Geräte-
auswahl wird praktisch demonstriert. Zur Sichtbar-
machung der Raumströmung wird in den Umgang
mit Rauchröhrchen eingewiesen.
Teil 2 – Orientierende Keimzahlbestimmung
Anhand von praktischen Übungen sind die Schu-
lungsteilnehmer im sicheren Umgang mit den Meß-
mitteln zu unterrichten. Dies betrifft sowohl die kor-
rekte Handhabung der Meßmittel als auch die Aus-
wertung der Proben. Die Schulungsteilnehmer sind in
die Lage zu versetzen, makroskopisch diejenigen Be-
funde zu erkennen, welche einen Handlungsbedarf
erfordern. Allgemeine und persönliche Schutzmaß-
nahmen im Zusammenhang mit den orientierenden
Keimzahlbestimmungen sind zu erläutern.
Thema 5: Maßgebende Gesetze, Vorschriften und
Technische Regeln für den Betrieb von
RLT-Anlagen
Den Schulungsteilnehmern ist ein Überblick über die
maßgebenden Vorschriften, Normen und technischen
Regeln zur Hygiene von Lüftungsanlagen zu geben
und kurz deren Geltungsbereich und Inhalt zusam-
menzufassen. Dabei soll auf wichtige, für die Praxis
in hohem Maße relevante Passagen hingewiesen wer-
den. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die Anforderun-
gen der Arbeitsstättenverordnung, der Unfallver-
hütungsvorschriften, der DIN 1946, der VDI 6022
Blatt 1 sowie des europäischen Normenwerks.

Topic 3: Servicing of ventilation and
air-conditioning systems
The necessity and the performance of appropriate
servicing on ventilation and air-conditioning systems
is to be explained using the checklist from VDI 6022
Part 1. Particular emphasis is to be placed on hygiene
activities during servicing. The trainees shall be in-
structed on personal protective measures when per-
forming maintenance and when handling chemical
cleaning and disinfecting agents.
Topic 4: Measuring procedures for monitoring
ventilation and air-conditioning systems
Part 1 – Physical measurements
The basic measuring procedures of air-conditioning
engineering are to be explained to the trainees. This
training is to concentrate on measuring procedures
for pressure, temperature and humidity. The accura-
cies to be achieved using these procedures, the neces-
sary positioning of measuring sensors and suitable
measuring points are to be demonstrated. The use of
smoke tubes to make the room airflow visible is to be
explained.
Part 2 – Orientating bacterial count
Trainees are to be instructed in the safe use of meas-
uring equipment by means of practical exercises.
This covers not only the correct handling of the meas-
uring equipment but also the evaluation of samples.
The trainees are to be taught how to use a microscope
to recognise those results which require action. Gen-
eral and personal protective measures in relation to
orienting bacterial counts are to be explained.
Topic 5: Applicable laws, regulations and
technical rules for the operation of ventilation and
air-conditioning systems
Trainees are to be given an overview of the relevant
regulations, standards and technical rules for the
hygiene of ventilation systems and short summary of
their scope and content. Passages which are highly
relevant in practice are to be pointed out. The require-
ments of the Factories Order, accident prevention
regulations, DIN 1946, VDI 6022 Part 1 and of Euro-
pean standards are to be particularly highlighted.

schen Regeln sind den Schulungsteilnehmern in den
Seminarunterlagen aufgelistet zu übergeben. Zusätz-
lich sind die jeweils zuständigen Ämter und Institu-
tionen zu benennen.

trainees are to be made aware of the potential hygiene
dangers in ventilation and air-conditioning systems
and to be trained to detect the occurrence of hygiene
problems and react appropriately.

heitsbildern und typischen Symptomen sollen vor
allem auch die kausalen Zusammenhänge zwischen
diesen und den gebäude- und anlagenbezogenen Ur-
sachen dargestellt werden.
Wichtiges Anliegen dieses Themas ist, den für die In-
spektion, Wartung und Instandsetzung von RLT-An-
lagen Verantwortlichen über die möglichen Konse-
quenzen seiner Tätigkeit aufzuklären und zu sensibi-
lisieren.
Thema 3: Hygienische Problemzonen
von RLT-Anlagen
Zusätzlich zu den Schulungsinhalten nach Thema 2
der Schulung B müssen die hygienischen Anforde-
rungen an die Planung von Raumlufttechnischen An-
lagen (Neuanlagen und Sanierung von Anlagen) ver-
tiefend dargestellt werden. Weiterhin sind die Zusam-
menhänge und Hintergründe des Entstehens hygieni-

gien zu erläutern. Dazu gehören auch die Erläuterung
der Vor- und Nachteile einzelner Systemkomponen-
ten und einzelner Lüftungskonzepte aus hygienischer
Sicht.
Thema 4: Wartung von RLT-Anlagen
Die Inhalte der Schulung B, Thema 3 sind so zu er-
weitern, daß der Schulungsteilnehmer in die Lage
versetzt wird, vorliegende Instandhaltungspläne
unter hygienischen Gesichtspunkten zu beurteilen
und bei Störungen oder sonstigen unvorhergesehenen
Ereignissen angemessen zu reagieren. Weiterhin sol-
len die Schulungsteilnehmer in die Lage versetzt
werden, bei der Ausschreibung von Wartungsverträ-
gen die hygienischen Belange von Raumlufttechni-
schen Anlagen zu berücksichtigen.
Thema 5: Meßverfahren zur Überwachung von
RLT-Anlagen
Teil 1 – Physikalische Messungen
Zusätzlich zu den unter Thema 4, Schulung B ge-
nannten Schulungsinhalten wird in die Geschwindig-
keits- und die Volumenstrommessung eingewiesen.
Es werden verschiedene Verfahren und die damit
erzielbaren Genauigkeiten vorgestellt. Den Schu-
lungsteilnehmern ist zu vermitteln, welches Meßver-
fahren für die vorliegenden Bedingungen und Anfor-
derungen auszuwählen ist.
Teil 2 – Orientierende Keimzahlbestimmung
Zusätzlich zu den Inhalten der Schulung B, Thema 4
sollen die Schulungsteilnehmer über derzeit verfüg-

disorders and impairment in performance which are
typically caused by buildings. In addition to the de-
scription of the illnesses and typical symptoms, the
causal relationship between these and the causes due
to the building and systems should particularly be
shown.
An important concern of this topic is to make those
responsible for the inspection, servicing and repair of
ventilation and air-conditioning systems aware of the
possible consequences of their actions.
Topic 3: Hygiene problem zones of ventilation and
air-conditioning systems
In addition to the training content of topic 2,
Training B, the hygiene requirements in the planning
of ventilation and air-conditioning systems (new
plant and the reconditioning of plants) must be dealt
with in greater depth. Furthermore, the relationships
and the background to the occurrence of hygiene
problem zones and avoidance strategies are to be cov-
ered. This also includes explaining the advantages
and disadvantages of individual system components
and individual ventilation concepts from the point of
view of hygiene.
Topic 4: Servicing of ventilation and air-condition
systems
The content of Training B, topic 3, is to be expanded
to enable the trainees to assess maintenance sched-
ules from the point of view of hygiene and react ap-
propriately to disturbances or other unforeseen
events. Furthermore, the trainees should also be
trained how to include the hygiene requirements of
ventilation and air-conditioning systems in invita-
tions to tender for maintenance contracts.
Topic 5: Measuring procedures for monitoring
ventilation and air-conditioning systems
Part 1 – Physical measurements
In addition to the training content in topic 4, Training
B, instruction is also given in the measurement of
velocity and volumetric flow. Various procedures and
the accuracies achievable using these are shown. The
trainees are to be instructed in the measuring proce-
dures to be chosen for the particular conditions and
requirements.
Part 2 – Orientating bacterial count
In addition to the training content of category B,
topic 4, the trainees should also be informed of the

bare Meßtechniken zur Erfassung mikrobiologischer
Parameter in der Luft und im Wasser (Befeuchter,
Kondenswasser) in RLT-Anlagen informiert werden.
Ziel dieses Themenkomplexes ist es, die Schulungs-
teilnehmer in die Lage zu versetzen, beim Auftreten
bedenklicher Ergebnisse der Keimzahlbestimmung
entscheiden zu können, welche weiterführenden Un-
tersuchungen notwendig werden. Darüber hinaus
wird erörtert, wie die hygienische Kontrolle der eige-
nen Anlagen erweitert und verbessert werden kann
und welche Meßverfahren und -geräte dafür zweck-
mäßig sind.
Thema 6: Maßgebende Gesetze, Vorschriften und
Technische Regeln für den Betrieb von
RLT-Anlagen
Den Schulungsteilnehmern ist ein Überblick über die
maßgebenden Vorschriften, Normen und technischen
Regeln zur Hygiene von Lüftungsanlagen zu geben
und deren Geltungsbereich übersichtlich aufzuzei-
gen. Die relevanten Passagen der Vorschriften sollen
ausführlich beschrieben und anhand von Fallbeispie-
len vertieft werden. Besonders hervorzuheben sind
die Anforderungen der Arbeitsstättenverordnung, der
Unfallverhütungsvorschriften, der DIN 1946, der
VDI 6022 Blatt 1 sowie des europäischen Normen-
werks.
Zusätzlich sind die jeweils zuständigen Ämter und
Institutionen zu benennen.
3.4 Abschließende Diskussionsrunde
Zur Klärung übergreifender Fragen und zur Festi-
gung des vermittelten Wissens wird eine abschlie-
ßende gemeinsame Diskussion mit allen Referenten
durchgeführt.
3.5 Prüfung und Urkunde
Die Hygieneschulung (Kategorien A und B) ist durch
eine bestandene Prüfung nachzuweisen. Für Teil-
nahme und erfolgreiche Prüfung wird eine Urkunde
ausgestellt.
Insgesamt werden 18 bis 20 Fragen zu den behandel-
ten Themen gestellt, wobei jedes Thema durch min-
destens zwei Fragen vertreten sein muß. Die Fragen
sind so zu formulieren, daß jeder Teilnehmer sie in
Stichpunkten beantworten kann. Die Prüfungszeit
beträgt ca. 30 Minuten. Die Prüfung gilt als bestan-
den, wenn mehr als 50 % der Fragen richtig beant-
wortet sind.

(humidifiers, condensate) in ventilation and air-con-
ditioning systems. The aim of this topic is to equip
the trainees to decide what further investigation is
necessary in the event of the occurrence of suspicious
results in the bacterial count. Ways in which hygienic
monitoring of own systems can be expanded and im-
proved and which measuring procedures and equip-
ment are appropriate for this are also dealt with.
Topic 6: Applicable laws, regulations and
technical rules for the operation of ventilation and
air-conditioning systems
The trainees are to be provided with an overview of
the relevant regulations, standards and technical rules
for hygiene in ventilation systems and their general
scope of application is to be shown. The relevant pas-
sages of the regulations should be comprehensively
described and expanded by case examples. The re-
quirements of the Factories Order, accident preven-
tion regulations, DIN 1946, VDI 6022 Part 1 and of
European standards are to be particularly highlighted.
The particular responsible authorities and institutions
are also to be named.
3.4 Final discussion
A final general discussion is to take place with all
experts to clarify overlapping questions and consoli-
date the knowledge gained.
3.5 Examination and certificate
The hygiene training (categories A and B) is to be
verified by a successful examination. A certificate is
provided for participation and successful completion
of the examination.
A total of 18 to 20 questions are set for the topics to
be dealt with and there must be at least two questions
on each topic. The questions are to be formulated in
such a way that each participant can answer in key
points. The examination shall last approximately
30 minutes. The test is considered passed if more
than 50 % of the questions are correctly answered.
