“THE MONTH OF LOVE”
Pastor’s Corner
Brother Brandon Baird
Yes. This is the month of love. Let me
tell you, I will never forget the first time I
saw Brooke Smith. I knew instantly she
was the one! We have been married for
11 years, there have been good times and
bad times, but love has seen us through.
Brooke is my true love, but she is not my
first love. Jesus Christ wants to be your
first love. When he died on the cross for
your sins He exhibited a love that no man
had ever shown before or since. The
question is, “Have you forgotten your
first love?” My prayer for you this month
is that you remember your first love as
well as your true love. God’s love will
never fail. Take the love He has given
you and share it with those around you
every day.

SPECIAL EVENTS
Card Donations......a box is located in the
vestibule to place old Christmas Cards,
Birthday Cards, etc. to be recycled with
the proceeds going to St. Jude.
Wedding Basket......A wedding basket
has been placed in the vestibule to collect
presents for Thomas Helm and Katie
Bullock.

Deacon’s Ministry
What do you love? Is it money, cars,
clothes or all the things of the world? Or
is it those things that are priceless like
your neighbors and friends and most
importantly God? This is the month of
the year where we celebrate love. We
spend 1 day a year telling someone
special that we love them. As children of
God we should spend 365 days a year
telling people that we love them. God is
love and he wants us to show that love to
others. Tell someone how much you love
them today and everyday.

Sunday School
What’s the best resolution you could
make for the new year that will last for
the rest of their life? Praising God and
leading people in the direction of
knowing Christ. Invite them to Sunday
School. Southern Baptist Association
studies show if a person is coming to
Sunday School they are likely to accept
Christ and join the church later. So its
easy to say come to Sunday School with
me. Talk about the discussion of
previous lessons, and how they help in
everyday life. See you in Sunday School
and help lead someone to the gift of
eternal life.

Women on Missions
The Women on Missions met at Kelley
Wright’s home for our January meeting.
Judy Stocks gave an interesting and
inspiring story of two brothers that
escaped Afghanistan, came to America,
and met Mary and David who were
International Mission Board Missionaries.
Through their love and witness, these two
brothers gave their hearts to Jesus and
changed from Islam to Christianity. Let
us be a loving witness as we come in
contact with people here in our area that
do not recognize Jesus Christ as Lord and
Savior.
The Annie Armstrong week of prayer for
North American Missions will be March
February 2011
6-13th. We set our church goal for
$500.00. We ask that each of you
participate in this as we pray for
missionaries working in this area and
give so that they may continue their work.
Our project for the month of February is
Bath items for a baby. We will donate
these to Resources for Women in
Sylacauga.
Our next meeting will be February 22nd at
the church. Mark that date on your
calendar so that you can come and join us
to learn more about missions.

Special Services
Love is in the air! Can you feel it? If you
are a child of God, you should feel it
every day! We don't have to wait until
February 14th to celebrate God's love for
us. I am so thankful that God loves me
even on days when I am the most
unlovable.
On Sunday the 20th we will have our
annual Valentine Banquet. It will begin at
5:00 PM with dinner. Following dinner
we have something fun and different
planned. Dr. Bill King , a.k.a. Bro. Billy
Bob "The Baptist" Bohannon, will be
entertaining us with humor, music, and
storytelling. I am so excited about this! I
have great things about him.
I want to thank Quint and Karen for, once
again, hosting a Valentine party for the
children while the adults and youth have

their banquet. Please sign up for the
banquet by Feb. 13th so that we can order
the food. I hope everyone will make plans
to attend.
Now I want to take a moment to thank
everyone who has helped me with the
Special Services so far this year. I
couldn't have done it without all of your
help! After this month Lynn Varner will
take over as Special Services Director and
finish out the church year. I'm sure she
will appreciate all your help as well.
The next time you hear from me I will be
focusing on Vacation Bible School. Don't
panic! But you know I like to get a head
start on things. So until next time...

Children in Action (CIA)
We are so excited about Wednesday
nights! The CIA is for kids in the first
through the sixth grade. We are learning
about missionaries and the work they do
and also how we can do mission work
right here at home. Please come and join
us. We have a blast and you can learn a
lot and earn “Bible Bucks” to spend at the
Bible Bucks store at the end of every
month. There are several ways to earn
those Bible Bucks....come and join us.

A WALK WITH DARLENE
Darlene Green
How can we lead others to Jesus? By our
daily lives. I heard a speaker say not long
ago, we may not all called to be speakers,
but we all are called to speak. We speak
positive or negative with our daily
actions. How do you represent Jesus?
Colossians 3:2 says, Set your minds and
keep them set on what is above (the
higher things) not on the things that are
on the earth. We need to make the main
thing, THE MAIN THING. Verse 16
says, a powerful statement to each of us
as children of God. Let the word(spoken
by) Christ have its home in your hearts
and minds, and dwell in you in all its
richness, as you teach and train and
admonish one another in all insight and
intelligence and wisdom. This is a
mouthful but powerful.
We are to show others around us the
Almighty God that has helped us through
crisis, sickness, financial difficulties, loss
of a family member and on and on. Have
you told someone today how real your
God is? Don't miss the opportunity.
Think about the functions within our
church. Could you assist a teacher, help
the pastor's wife from time to time, check
on a neighbor or shut in? There are
endless ways to minister to people each
and every day.
One last verse I want to leave you with,
Romans 10:14 says, how can people
come to Jesus unless they hear without
the aid of a preacher(minister). Well, I
must tell you--WE ARE ALL

Reach out to that neighbor or co-worker
today.

Musical Notes
Judy Stocks
Well, February is here and we celebrate
our 1 year anniversary of being here at the
church. I cannot believe it has already
been a whole year but what a wonderful
year it has been. I have learned a lot and
have been taught a lot of new songs from
the choir members and I have taught
them a few. We have seen the
church grow in members and a move
of the Holy Spirit. We look forward
to each service and to see what God is

doing in the lives of everyone here. We
will begin our practice this month to get
ready for Easter. It will be here before
we know it. If you have thought about
joining us to sing, now would be a good
time. I don’t ask anyone to sing solo’s if
you are not comfortable doing it. Just
come sing with the others. We have
practice each Sunday afternoon at 4:00.
Our next Sunday night sing will be
Sunday, February 27th at 5:00 pm. Make
plans now to join us for a time of
worshiping God in song.

Church Fund Raiser
“Play Ground Project”

We still have those traditional Cook
Books to sell. We are encouraging our
members to “sign out” and sell a number
of Cook Books to help with the fund
raising. Please call Brooke Baird, who
has been elected the Director of the Play
Ground Project, at 249-3910, to help
with this much needed fund raiser.
Business Meetings
Business meetings are held the
second Monday of every month at 6:00
pm. Please bring a covered dish for
supper and fellowship before the meeting.

Debe Hooley from Yoder’s Family
Traditions and Gifts is offering various
craft classes at her shop. We encourage
you to stop by and visit Debe. See her
collection of unique jams and jellies and

Neighborhood Watch
The monthly meeting for the Community
Neighborhood Watch is held on the 3rd
Thursday of each month at 6:30 pm in the
Weogufka School Lunchroom. All area
residents are invited to attend. Just bring
a covered dish for supper.

'prosecutor.'
He was a villainous looking gent who
snarled as he stared at me. He definitely
was the most evil person I have ever seen.

I sat down and looked to my left and there
sat My Attorney, kind and gentle looking
man whose appearance seemed so
familiar to me, I felt I knew Him.
The corner door flew open and there
appeared the Judge in full flowing robes.
He commanded an awesome presence as
He moved across the room I couldn't take
my eyes off Him.
As He took His seat behind the bench, He
said, 'Let us begin.'
The prosecutor rose and said,
'My name is Satan and I am here to show
you why this man belongs in hell.'
He proceeded to tell of lies that I told,
things that I stole, and In the past when I
cheated others. Satan told of other
horrible Perversions that were once in my
life and the more he spoke, the further
down in my seat I sank.
I was so embarrassed that I couldn't look
at anyone, even my own Attorney, as the
Devil told of sins that even I had
completely forgotten about.
As upset as I was at Satan for telling all
these things about me, I was equally
upset at My Attorney who sat there
silently not offering any form of defense
at all.
I know I had been guilty of those things,
but I had done some good in my life -
couldn't that at least equal out part of the
harm I'd done?

Satan finished with a fury and said, 'This
man belongs in hell, he is guilty of all that
I have charged and there is not a person
who can prove otherwise.'
When it was His turn, My Attorney first
asked if He might approach the bench.
The Judge allowed this over the strong
objection of Satan, and beckoned Him to
come forward..
As He got up and started walking, I was
able to see Him in His full splendor and
majesty.
I realized why He seemed so familiar; this
was Jesus representing me, my Lord and
my Savior.
He stopped at the bench and softly said to
the Judge, 'Hi, Dad,' and then He turned
to address the court.
'Satan was correct in saying that this man
had sinned, I won't deny any of these
allegations. And, yes, the wages of sin is
death, and this man deserves to be
punished.'
Jesus took a deep breath and turned to His
Father with outstretched arms and
proclaimed, 'However, I died on the cross
so that this person might have eternal life
and he has accepted Me as his Savior, so
he is Mine.'
My Lord continued with, 'His name is
written in the Book of Life, and no one
can snatch him from Me.
Satan still does not understand yet. This
man is not to be given justice, but rather
mercy.'

As Jesus sat down, He quietly paused,
looked at His Father and said, 'There is
nothing else that needs to be done.'
'I've done it all.'
The Judge lifted His mighty hand and
slammed the gavel down. The following
words bellowed from His lips...
'This man is free. The penalty for him has
already been paid in full. 'Case
dismissed.'
As my Lord led me away, I could hear
Satan ranting and raving, 'I won't give up,
I will win the next one.'
I asked Jesus as He gave me my
instructions where to go next, 'Have you
ever lost a case?'
Christ lovingly smiled and said,
'Everyone that has come to Me and asked
Me to represent them has received the
same verdict as you, ~Paid In Full~'
If you do not pass this along to 10 people
immediately, absolutely nothing will
happen ..
Passing this on to anyone you consider a
friend,
(As I have done here), will bless you
both.
Stop telling God how big your storm is.
Instead, tell the storm how big your God
is!
