IntelliVIEW Designer
IntelliVIEW Designer is a GUI-based and highly interactive report design tool that is proven
to reduce report development and deployment effort & cost by up to 80%!

IntelliVIEW Designer enables report designers to connect to any structured data source,
visually construct queries, build report formats and publish them to a server. IntelliVIEW
Designer can connect to all popular relational databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server,
IBM DB2, My SQL, etc. using industry standard connectors/drivers (ODBC, OLEDB, ODAC,
etc.).

IntelliVIEW Designer enables report designers to design reports using just two simple
steps!

• Dragging and dropping data elements

• Formatting the report using the WYSIWYG editor

What is new in IntelliVIEW Designer

Version 4.1
The following are the new features in IntelliVIEW Designer:

Publishing Reports:

The process of publishing reports from IntelliVIEW Designer to IntelliVIEW Reporter has
been simplified. We can publish data model as well as the connection along with the report
to IntelliVIEW Reporter.

Date Analytics

“Date Analytics” feature enables user to specify certain settings like Start of quarter, Start
of week and Hour Format before Grouping by Calendar. “Group by Calendar” feature will
take these settings from Date Analytics to group the report.

New Chart Engine

IntelliVIEW Designer introduces a new charting module that empowers users with powerful
and enhanced data visualization capabilities.

About the guide
Overview
This guide describes how to install IntelliVIEW Designer. It also presents system hardware
and software requirements for running the IntelliVIEW Designer.

Note: This document explains the installation and configuration of

IntelliVIEW Designer. The Installation and uninstallation steps discussed in
this document are common to the versions 3.7 and 3.7.1.

Audience
This guide is intended for a network administrator, a system administrator, or any other
person called upon to install the IntelliVIEW Designer at your company. The person
carrying out installation should have standard skills for administration of Windows
platforms, in addition to a basic knowledge of the products in the IntelliVIEW product line.

System Requirements
Overview
IntelliVIEW Designer has been designed for installation on the Microsoft Windows Platform.
This section lists the IntelliVIEW Designer system requirements.

The IntelliVIEW Designer and associated support files have the following installation
requirements.

Hardware Requirements
Processor Pentium IV or above

RAM 512 MB or above

Hard Disk Space 500 MB hard disk space for the executable
program, help files and samples

Software Requirements
Operating System Windows 2000/Windows XP/Windows NT

Browser Internet Explorer 6.0 SP2

Installing IntelliVIEW Designer
Installation Overview
IntelliVIEW Designer Installation Wizard helps you install IntelliVIEW Designer through
step-by-step process.

Previous Installations
Use the following cases to determine your installation option when you have IntelliVIEW
Designer previous version installed in your machine.

Case 1: Earlier version of IntelliVIEW Designer exists

On a machine with earlier version of IntelliVIEW installing current version of IntelliVIEW

Designer pops up a message box to upgrade the previous version. Click Yes to proceed
with the current version of IntelliVIEW Designer installation or No to cancel the
installation.

Case 2: Current version of IntelliVIEW Designer exists

On a machine with the current version of IntelliVIEW Designer, installing again current
version of IntelliVIEW Designer pops up an alert box with a message to uninstall the
existing Designer. Click Yes to uninstall. Click No to quit the message.

Installation process
To install, double click on the IntelliVIEW Designer setup file and follow the installation
instructions.

Anytime during installation,

ƒ Click Cancel to abort the installation.

ƒ Click Back to move to previous installation screen.

Step 1 Welcome Screen
The installation of IntelliVIEW Designer starts with the Welcome Screen. Click Next to
install Designer.

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 2 License Agreement
Read through the license agreement before proceeding further with the installation.

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 3 Installation Information
The installation option is selected during the installation process. Select an option from
the ‘Install this application for’ and click Next to proceed with the installation.

The following are the options in ‘Install this application for’:

ƒ Anyone who uses this computer (all users) - The installed Designer can be
used by anyone who uses this computer
ƒ Only for me () – The installed Designer can be used only by the Administrator

Installation Information

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 4 License Key Entry

The User information and the license key are entered during this part of the installation
process. Type your User Name, Company Name, Email and FREE TRIAL License Key (or)
Full License in the relevant fields.

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Note: User Name, Company Name and Email entered in this screen should
match with the details provided during download registration.

Note: Once you register for a product download, serial numbers are sent
by email. If you have not registered yet, please click Get Serial Number
button.

If the license key is invalid, the following message box displays:

Click OK to close the message box.

Step 5 Destination Location
If you choose not to install the software in the default installation directory, then specify
the directory for installation. Use the Browse… button to select the necessary directory.

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 6 Copying Files
The files are copied into the installation directory.

Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 7 Installing Files
The setup installs the installation files in the specified directory.

Installing Files
Click Next to proceed with the installation.

Step 8 Installation Completed

The setup completes the installation of IntelliVIEW Designer. Select the necessary option
from the Installation Complete Screen and click Finish.

The following are the options:

ƒ View the Readme.txt file – Check this option to view the IntelliVIEW Designer -
Read Me file.
ƒ Launch IntelliVIEW Designer – Check this option to open the IntelliVIEW
Designer Application.

Designer installation directory.

Getting Started
Starting IntelliVIEW Designer
» Click the Start > Programs > IntelliVIEW Designer > IntelliVIEW Designer
4.1.

Note: Along with the installation, the sample IntelliVIEW files will be
stored in \Program Files\ IntelliVIEW\ IntelliVIEW Designer 4.1 \ Samples
directory.

Uninstalling IntelliVIEW Designer
The following are the steps to uninstall IntelliVIEW Designer:

ƒ Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel, select Add/Remove Programs.

Program > Settings > Control Panel

ƒ Add/Remove Programs Properties screen appears.

ƒ Select IntelliVIEW Designer from the installed components list and click
Change/Remove.

ƒ InstallShield wizard appears and guides you through the uninstallation process.

ƒ A Message box appears with the uninstall confirmation message. Click Yes to
uninstall Designer and No to abort the setup.

ƒ Once the uninstall process is over, Uninstall Completed screen appears.
