Teaching History

I have been teaching at Corona Del Sol High School for five years, and I started back in 2015.

Before I graduated college I was able to intern at Corona Del Sol which was perfect because it

helped to get a teaching job there since I was already known before I applied for the job. I ended

up getting a Secondary Education (history) degree from Arizona State University. I also stayed

so I could get my masters in education to help ensure that I could perform at the highest level

when it came to teaching. Since I am relatively new to the professional world the only place that

I have ever taught at was Corona Del Sol, and I very much enjoy it due to the beautiful school

and an amazing staff around me.

Philosophy of Education

The role of the student in education is to be open to learning the information that is being

taught, and also open to how this education can better themselves. In order for a learner to be

successful in learning what is being taught they need to come into the classroom with an open

mind. If they have a closed mind they will be less likely to want to engage with the information.

If you present the information in a boring or monotone way, no one is going to want to learn it

since it won’t capture their attention. Instead they will focus on other things to pass the time

since they don’t care about what is being taught.

The role of the teacher is to teach the students in an engaging way. Learners don’t like to

be taught things that they are not engaged in. This may mean to switch up how you present

different things like having a powerpoint one day, and a group activity another day. Keeping the

learners on their toes will help them keep their minds engaged with the content since they never

know how they will be learning. Plus it helps the teacher keep the students out of control because

they won’t act out due to boredom or anything like that,

The role of the instructor in the community is to be a positive role model to all of the

learners inside and outside of the classroom. While inside the classroom, teachers need to make

sure that they are being professional when they need to be, but also show a light-hardnessess to

themselves. Showing a good balance between the two things will help to show students how to

have good balance within their own lives. Outside the classroom, an educator should be involved

within the community. Doing things like voting, volunteering, protesting big issues in the world,

and generally being a good person by helping others. Instructors have such a big role in people’s

lives because they can make a huge difference with kids' lives. Students may not always have a

great home life, and sometimes it is up to the educator to help make each student the best that

they can be.
