Remote Firmware update of 7SC80 via DIGSI 4 Syscon

7SC80 offers additionally to parameter set update via Ethernet connection the possibility to update the device
firmware via remote using DIGSI 4 Syscon. In the following you find a description of the different steps needed.

Preconditions:
Please check current version of parameter set before uploading firmware.
7SC80 devices with firmware or parameter set version < 4.20 can't be updated to V4.20 or higher by remote firmware
update tool.
7SC80 devices with firmware or parameter set version >= 4.20, please update firmware first and update parameter set
as a second step.

In case of non-compatibility, device will remain in monitor mode after firmware update and cannot be
accessed via remote anymore.

Firmware and Parameter set of devices must be compatible prior and after update procedure, the compatibility is
described by following table:

General preparations:

Start DIGSI with admin rights.

In 7SC80 the remote firmware update parameter and web server must be enabled:

Remote firmware update depends on HTTP. HTTP is disabled per default for FW version of EN100 modules
starting at
IEC61850 >= V4.30 or
IEC8670-5-104 >=V1.22 or
DNP IP >=1.04
You must enable and confirm HTTP by Web monitor access via url:
https://ip addr/setupwebmonitoraccess

Once changes in IEC61850 relevant parameter changes in parameters were detected in DIGSI, pls. update
61850 station accordingly:

Device Firmware Update procedure

Right mouse click on IEC61850 station and press “Multiple Firmware update”:

Choose firmware *.pck file on your PC, please ensure that the folder names of the firmware storage path do not
contain any blanks (till DIGSI 4.93 SP1) and to use the corresponding remote firmware update pck-file starting
with “RemoteFwUpdate…” for 7SC80 device firmware:

Provide password(s) for the devices, default password is “Siemens1!”:

Afterwards start download via start transmission

A CMD line interface opens automatically and provide details on update process:

After Firmware update process the updated devices will be rebooted to restart with new uploaded firmware
version

The report window provides additional details on update process:

After successful firmware update and reboot of 7SC80 you can check the running firmware version by accessing
EN100 home page http://ip addr/home or https://ip addr/home

Change to Startup log page and have a look at Device FW line, here you will find current running device
firmware version.
Update of EN100 firmware is possible via Remote Firmware Update Tool as follows:
supported versions
DNP IP: 1.01 up to 1.04 (1.04 only for EN100+ modules)
IEC8670-5-104: 1.00 up to 1.21
IEC61850: via web page only, no update with remote firmware update tool
Update of DNP IP or IEC8670-5-104 firmware is not possible via web page.

Remote parameter set update

New parameter set can be transferred to 7SC80 devices via remote, either device by device or several devices
automatically:

Select the devices which have to be updated and press Add button:

Select parameter set and provide password for access to device, if all devices have same password, highlight
them all and enter password for all devices.
Standard password is “000000”
