You are being offered a place on Cornell’s waiting list because, given enrollment limitations, we cannot offer
you admission at this time. Keeping your name on our waiting list will give you the opportunity to keep your
application active until the admission selection committees in the university's undergraduate colleges can
determine whether sufficient numbers of currently accepted applicants will enroll. If spaces still remain after the
May 1 reply date, we may be able to extend an offer of admission to you.
What are the chances of being selected from the waiting list?
Cornell's selection committees are not able to estimate your chances for admission at this time. No admission
offers will be made until we know how many openings there will be and how many applicants have decided to
remain on the waiting list. Please keep in mind that the waiting list is managed college by college.
Applicants who were admitted during the regular selection process must let us know by the May 1 reply date if
they plan to enroll. Shortly thereafter, the selection committees should know whether they are able to offer
admission to additional candidates.
We notify waiting list candidates of their status just as soon as it is clear that additional offers of admission can
be made or that no space is available. Meanwhile, it is important that you assure yourself of a place at another
college to which you have been admitted.
We encourage you to update your admission and financial aid applications if you choose to remain on the
waiting list. Detailed instructions about applying for financial aid are included on the back of this page. We are
particularly interested in receiving new grade reports, information about new honors or awards, and updates on
your activities. Of course, we would welcome any other information, too.
Further questions?
If you have further questions about the waiting list, please contact the appropriate undergraduate college
admissions office at Cornell.
How to reply:
Please let us know if you are interested in keeping your name on our waiting list by submitting your reply on our
web site (https://admissions.cornell.edu/waitlistreply/).

If you are applying for financial aid, the following forms are required. If you have not already
submitted these forms, please do so immediately.
If you have already submitted these forms, the following additional information can help us evaluate
your family’s financial situation:
• written notification of any changes in your family’s financial situation since you originally
completed your application (such changes may include, but are not limited to, a change in
employment status of a parent or a change in a sibling’s college enrollment plans).
• 2009 federal tax returns (signed with all schedules and W-2 forms) if you previously submitted
your 2008 returns.
• 2009-2010 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), available online at
www.fafsa.ed.gov.
• written notification if you are no longer interested in applying for financial aid (this is only
necessary if you previously submitted the Freshman Financial Aid Application or PROFILE).
The Freshman Financial Aid Application, tax returns, and written notifications should be mailed to: Application
Processing Center, 349 Pine Tree Road, Ithaca, NY, 14850. The Freshman Financial Aid Application is
available for downloading at: http://finaid.cornell.edu. You may reach the Office of Financial Aid and Student
Employment at finaid@cornell.edu or via telephone at (607) 255-5145.
If you have not already done so, it is extremely important that you complete your financial aid application
immediately. Timely completion will avoid delays in the preparation of a financial aid award should you be
admitted.
