ASSIGNMENT QUESTION

PURPOSE:
Early childhood mathematics is vitally important for young children's present and future
educational success. Most children develop an understanding of addition and subtraction
through everyday interactions. The purpose of this assignment is to expose learners to
the best practices in teaching mathematics to preschool children. Learners will also be
given the opportunity to plan and implement a mathematics learning activity with young
children.

PART 1: WRITTEN ASSIGNMENT (40 MARKS)


This assignment requires you to discuss TWO learning theories and the theories
implication to teaching and learning of early mathematics to preschool children. The
assignment should have the following aspects:
• The objective of the assignment and an introduction to how children learn
mathematics.
• The discussion on the TWO theories in learning and the theories implication to
teaching and learning of mathematics to young children.
