What is the topic of the book?

The book was entitled Counseling and Psychotherapy in the Philippines. Which literally
states a real life situations. It is more on letting an individual understand the real function of a
counselor and a psychotherapist.
What is its purpose?

The content of this book provide a mere overview of theses counseling approaches,
enough forth readers to evaluate their major tenets; decide to accept or reject their underlying
philosophy and basic concepts; select which ones they might like to base their practice on; and
move toward deepening their knowledge through reading books written by the original authors
and attending related workshops and programs.

Who are the intended readers?

This book is intended for those persons who suffers confusion in all the things that they
are going to do. It is also intended for those persons who had great problems in life, for them to
wake up and be optimistic enough to think that all the problems in life has corresponding
solutions.

Does the writer explicitly explain the available information in the text?

The writer really explicitly explained all the information from the text because lots of all
of those are realistic.

What Theoretical Assumptions where discussed in the text with support and evidences?

Based on what I have read on the book, all information seems like a theoretical
assumptions because every phrases and thoughts are properly cited. It all has enough evidences
that would prove that the book was really relevant for the readers.

What are the contribution of the book to the field of (e.g observation, survey, statistics, historical
accounts) are presented in the book? How are they use as a support in the text?
 The contribution of the book in the field of psychology is present. It shows the different
kinds of psychotherapy and its uses in terms of the real life situations. Such as the Rational
Emotive Behavior Therapy, Choice/Reality Therapy, Logo Therapy and etc. It also shows the
different ways of counseling.

What are the problem discussed in the book?

Counseling and Psychotherapy in a collaborative treatment base on the relationship

between an individual and a psychologist. Grounded in dialogue, it provides a supportive
environment that allows you to take openly with someone whose objective is neutral and
nonjudgmental. Different realistic problems was discussed in the book, examples of these are (1)
Meyer, a 15 years old girl who thinks that all of the member of her family hates her due to the
treatment that she gets from them. (2) A 25 years old women who's confided about her marital
situation. (3) Genevieve, 16 years old graduating student who's still confused on what course to
take when we step up on college. Those are just few examples of the real life situations that has
been counseled and was given a solution.

What kinds of information are presented in the book?

How are they used as support in the text? The kinds of information’s used by the book
was a quantitative information which was gathered from different clients. Those info’s are used
as a support to the text because they gave further understanding about the books intention to the
readers.

What is your overall reaction to the book?

As a first time reader of a psychology book, I was so impressed because I didn't expect
that reading such book will be really fun and interesting. You'll get further knowledge about life
and most especially about yourself. You'll be able to identify the different perspective of your
mind and heart.
