3 MINUTE STORY

I was talking to my peers about the approaching new academic year with a new normal
system of learning and we realized that there will be students that will experience issues
regarding the implemented mode of learning. It appears that the pandemic vastly affected the
mental health of the students wherein it hinders them to be focused and motivated in studying
and due to the sudden shift of the way of learning, the students will definitely find it hard to cope
and adjust to the needs and demands of this newly introduced system of learning. Because of the
pandemic, there is now 3 out of 10 students that paused their academic journey.

My friends and I discussed on how we can help these students adapt to the new normal in
our educational system and at the same time, help them manage their mental health. So, we
organized a program that will boost the minds of the students for them to grasp the outlook in the
new normal mode of learning which I called “Abante Estudyante”. It is a webinar to educate
students when it comes to having new viewpoints in learning. In order to know if the program
would benefit the students, we initiated a survey before and after the program. We realized that
in before the webinar, 20% of students answered a pre pre-survey saying that they feel motivated
despite the change of way of learning due to the pandemic, however, when the webinar finished,
90% of students answered a survey saying they are eager to learn despite the new normal setting.
We recognized that the webinar we organized was effective to the students and we agreed that
the programs should also reach to other parts in the Philippines

BIG IDEA
The program reached its aim to help the students adapt and cope to the mode of learning in this
new normal setting, it has also contributed wellness towards the mental health of students which
gave them a better perspective in learning which resulted to them being motivated in studying
once again, since the program was a success, we propose that the program be expanded to other
parts of the Philippines.
