Re: Indiscriminate use of technology and the internet by Covenant University students.

The following report analyses the indiscriminate use of technology and the internet by
students of Covenant University while proffering solutions.

From a survey carried out from the 1st to 14th March 2020, it was discovered that about
90% of the students have complained of aches and pains like neck pains, headaches,
weakness e.t.c. There have also been complaints made by the academic staff about lack
of focus and distractions leading to strains in the academic growth of the students.
From our survey, we discovered that about 85% of the students (out of which 70% made
complaints of aches) spend an average of 18 hours every day in front of a technological
device like their laptops or computers. Another 50% tend to skip meals while 85% take
junk food. We also discovered that 99% of the entire student population use the internet
facilities for non-academic purposes like chatting, listening to music, watching videos
e.t.c. The remaining 1% comprised mostly of those students who don’t have devices on
campus. The worst part of this being that only about 45% of those who use the internet
for non-academic purposes, use it for personal development purposes.

From the statistics above I realized that the long hours spent sitting in front of devices
without appropriate nutrition resulted in stress which caused the increase in pains
complaints. I also realized that the indiscriminate use of the internet resulted in the poor
academic performance of the students.

I would recommend that the students be taught and sensitized about proper ergonomics
while sitting or performing any tasks and ergonomic friendly chairs and beds be provided
so as to reduce the stress on their muscles while they perform tasks. General exercise
sessions could further be conducted for the students. Food could be sold at a closer
distance to the students with the availability of varieties to improve their appetite. For the
problem with internet, since it cannot be shut down completely as a result of the
academic work it is used to perform I suggest that there be a time limit after which the
internet will be shut down in certain sections around the school. This will cause students
to be more responsible in doing their school work and help reduce the poor academic
performance.

I hope this report will be of help to you in making the right decision concerning the issues
addressed above.

Re: Survey on the response of consumers to online shopping.

The following report analyses the response of the consumers of wafers.com to online
shopping.

From our survey, it was discovered that the major reasons why our consumers are failing
to migrate to our online shopping platform are: unfamiliar technology, security concerns,
resistance to change, lack of access to the internet, inefficient delivery (unreliable) and
preference for traditional shopping.

Security concerns constituted 40.5% in males from 19-29, 48.4% in females from 19-29,
55% in males from 30-50, 59.7% in females from 30-50, 4.4% in males from 51 and
above and 2.1% in females from 51 and above. Unfamiliar technology constituted 15.1%
in males from 19-29, 23.2% in females from 19-29, 36.6% in males from 30-50, 45.3% in
females from 30-50, 81.2% in males from 51 and above and 89.3% in females from 51
and above. Inefficient delivery constituted 34.4% in males from 19-29, 36.2% in females
from 19-29, 31.4% in males from 30-50, 35.5% in females from 30-50, 4.8% in males
from 51 and above and 3.5% in females from 51 and above. Resistance to change
constituted 14.6% in males from 19-29, 17.4% in females from 19-29, 24.6% in males
from 30-50, 29.5% in females from 30-50, 45.6% in males from 51 and above and 51.7%
in females from 51 and above. Lack of access to the internet constituted 38.4% in males
from 19-29, 41.1% in females from 19-29, 37.6% in males from 30-50, 44.4% in females
from 30-50, 7.9% in males from 51 and above and 9.6% in females from 51 and above.
Preference for traditional shopping constituted 25.1% in males from 19-29, 58.6% in
females from 19-29, 19.5% in males from 30-50, 62.3% in females from 30-50, 4.6% in
males from 51 and above and 38.2% in females from 51 and above.

From the statistics outlined above it can be inferred that women generally tend to feel
more strongly about these problems men. This is evidenced by the higher value of their
statistical numbers. The most disturbing problem for males and females within the age
bracket of 19-50 was that of security concerns. However, for people within the age
bracket of 51 and above their most disturbing problem was that of unfamiliar technology.
Females also tended to be quite affected by the need to change as they mostly preferred
the traditional mode of shopping. Lack of access to the internet was also a problem
mostly amongst the males and females within the age bracket of 19-50.

From all of the issues listed above I went ahead to identify the ones that were in our
power to change. These are security concerns, unfamiliar technology and inefficient
delivery. For the problem of security, I suggest that expert computer scientists and code
writers be called in to provide appropriate protection for our databases and that the
consumers be sensitized on the safety of purchasing from the online platform. For
unfamiliar technology, I suggest that expert technical writers be called in to write
manuals or guides in 1 page pamphlets explaining how to access and navigate the online
platform to our consumers. For the inefficient delivery, I suggest that the company should
invest more in its delivery service and ensure that more warehouses are provided around
the nation to facilitate easy and faster movement of deliveries. For the issue of resistance
to change or preference for traditional shopping I suggest that incentives like discount on
products be provided for goods bought from the online store. This I believe will compel
more people to get over their aversion to buying.

I hope the report of this survey will be helpful in meeting your needs.
