ENERVATED

Deprived of force or strength; destroy the

vigor of; weakened.

The series of hand sketches are to show

the enervated shape of Tanjung Malim. The town
is in this shape because of the completion of the
Asian Highway 2. Very few travelers go to the
town because it became an irrelevant pitstop that
does not have direct access to AH2. Because of
the lack of access to the highway it is not on the
way to the northern states anymore as the old
highway has been overshadowed by the new
Asian Highway.
1 4 7 The first 3 sketches are of buildings within

Tanjung Malim that are rundown because the
owners do not earn enough to repaint or fix any
issues with the building.
The 4th sketch is of an abandoned
treehouse overgrown with vines. This sketch is a
metaphor of the town being forgotten by the
travelers.
Sketch 5-7 are of the residents trying to
do what they can by scraping things together to
fix up holes in the abandoned building.
Sketch 8 is of the old worn out and
cheaply made uneven concrete showing the
economic struggles of the town.
Sketch 9 is of the broken down roads
being repeatedly fixed with different materials
from dirt and rocks to tar at different areas.
Sketch 10 is of a sculpture made by
scraping together spare parts emphasising the
