IEEE Region 8 Logo Contest - Call for

Proposals
IEEE Region 8 would like to invite its members to submit proposals for the first IEEE Region 8 Logo.

The best logo will be selected by a jury of five IEEE volunteers from IEEE Region 8. The winning
logo and author(s) will be announced at the IEEE Region 8 Meeting in London in March 2011. The
winning author (or representative of authors) will be invited to attend the Region 8 Committee Meeting
in London in March 2011. The winning author will also receive recognition in the Region 8 News, and
in the official Region 8 Website.

Submissions must be received by noon UCT on Friday, 31 December 2010.

IEEE Region 8 Logo Contest Rules and Guidelines

* Submissions must adhere to the IEEE Visual Identity Guidelines. Please go to
www.ieee.org/go/brand for more information.

* The contest is open to all IEEE members residing within Region 8 (of any grade). If the logo is
developed by more than one author, at least one author must be an IEEE member residing within
Region 8.

* All submissions must be submitted electronically and received by noon, UTC, on Friday 31
December, 2010. Submit them by email to r8logo@ieee.org. For questions and comments please
contact Diogo Mónica, the contest coordinator, at diogo.monica@ieee.org.

* Submissions must be accompanied by contact information. Please include your name, country, full
address, member grade and member number. There is no limit to the number of submission per
member.

* Files must be submitted both in PNG and in the original (editable) file.

* The winner(s) will be notified before the IEEE Region 8 Meeting in London in March 2011. The
winner logo may become the new IEEE Region 8 Official Logo, after approval.

* Submissions must not include any copyrighted images.

* We reserve the right to postpone or end the contest, if we deem the number of appropriate entries to
be insufficient.

* Participants agree that entry into this contest constitutes (1) an assignment of all ownership interests
in submissions, including copyrights, to IEEE Region 8. Submitted entries become the property of
IEEE Region 8 in perpetuity. Submitters hereby grant permission to identify them in connection with
the logo submissions.

* The results of the competition are final and failure to comply with all contest guidelines will result in
disqualification.

20 August 2010 – Contest opens

31 December 2010, noon UTC – Deadline for submissions

26-27 March 2011 – Winning logo/designer is announced during IEEE Region 8 Meeting in London
